3mm Athletic Sports Mouth Guard (Custom Clear)

My wife and I both play basketball. After she got hit in the mouth and needed a $1300 root canal and then oral surgery, and I got sent to urgent care when I bit my tongue badly, we started looking into mouth guards. The boil and bite ones are useless. One size definitely does not fit all, and neither of us could talk with the things in our mouths. Our dentist wanted to charge $700 apiece. So we tried these. Taking the impressions was a…process. But we got the impressions taken, sent them in, and waited a month. The guards we got back are exactly what we need. They fit right, and we can run around and breathe and talk without any fear that they’ll go flying across the court. So I’d give the process of getting them made a C, but the guards themselves are an A+.

My son plays competitive youth basketball and going without a mouthguard is way too risky. We tried the horrible $20 guards that they sell at Dicks / Walmart and they are so bulky that our son could hardly breathe and play ball at the same time. He hated it and just wouldn’t wear it. Then our family dentist offered to sell us what looks exactly like the Sporting Smiles guard, but for $345. So glad that we found this mouthguard…the fit is perfect and my son actually had fun making the impression!!

I did the mold and I sent it back and I haven’t heard from the company or received my mouth guard.... it’s been three months since I’ve sent it back

Good Fit! Takes some time but it works!

I received the kit for my son who plays high school basketball. We are excited about being able to have a low profile mouthguard for him but I must send this review in regards to the process. We have not received the mouthguard yet so this review is about making the impression. I will update on the actual mouthguard once we receive it. In regards to the impressions. Its nice that you can send an email to sporting smiles to see if your mouthguard meets their specifications. The problem is, we can never seem to get the right impression. We have gone line by line following the instructions and the video and we still continue to get an email that the impression is too far forward, or not deep enough, or not etc. We have done a number of impressions and ordered additional putty to them. At this point, I might ask him to wear the putty as the mouthpiece. In summary, the impression piece is too diffiicult to meet what they are looking for. I ended up sending in the last impressions hoping they meet what this company is looking for. I will update this review to let you all know what takes place and how good the product is. I am willing to pay a few dollars for a video conference with Sporting Smiles to make sure my impressions are correct as oppose to this process. I think a more simplified tray may solve the problem.

After having five teeth knocked out from a basketball injury, I began wearing mouthguards. After trying many other mouthguards, I have finally found one that is both comfortable and breathe-able while playing basketball. With it’s comfortable fit and design, I also love that I can actually communicate while wearing the mouthguard. Although priced on the higher end for mouthguards, it was well worth it for me! The company sends you two molds to your home (one extra in case you make a mistake). The directions were quite simple. It does help to watch the instructional video they provide while making your molding. It took about 2 weeks to get back to me after sending it in. Very happy with my mouthguard!

My son is the QB for his team and most mouth pieces are bulky and hard to call out everything. With this he doesn't even appear to have one in and can speak a lot clearer and louder.

I was super excited that I bought this because I wanted to have a clear mouthguard. When I saw you have to do a dentist I was super mad such a waste of money.
