Amazing Little Device
I bought this item primarily because my husband has walking problems due to MS, including drop foot. It causes degenerative weakness of the muscles in his lower legs and a pronounced limp. I figured I could try it on my own persistent back pain too. I had heard that an electrical stimulation device is good for restoring muscle strength, if used at the right frequencies. At first we tried finding a good physical therapist willing to try it but were unable to find one close by. Plus my husband was hesitant. He's just not as aggressive as I am in searching out options, and I think the idea of giving himself a shock didn't sound too appealing. I was aware that this device is primarily marketed for only pain relief but the cost was so low I decided to start here. So I bought it as a way to show him that the shock wouldn't be uncomfortable and to see if it might even be effective. After years of nothing aside from diet yielding any improvement at all, this approach seems to be working very well. We have been very surprised and happy at the results. It arrived quickly, charged up in a few hours, and the instructions were easy to follow. We use it every other day along with regular massage for muscle cramps, alternating with regular physical therapy exercises on the off days. We use both the back and neck settings on his lower legs, strength level is around 10 to 15. These seem to be the most effective settings for causing the muscle contractions in his lower legs that we're looking for, without being uncomfortable. At first we could see some movement in the right leg but none in the left, his weakest leg, and kept adjusting the settings. After a few weeks, viola, movement. When we first noticed it, it was like little butterfly movement in the left toes. Now it is obvious these muscles are contracting, with the ankle and toes moving back about 1/2 inch or so in a regular rhythm. This doesn't sound like much, but believe me, it is. We were guinea-pigging him for two years on three bankrupting pharmaceutical regimens and various exercises for which the best hope was that he wouldn't get worse. He got worse anyway. Any actual increase in movement and strength is huge news. Because the main unit is only about the size of a cell phone and delivers a shock strong enough to contract the muscles pretty thoroughly, I assumed I would have to charge every few days at least, but no. Maybe once every four weeks so far, using it for 20-40 minutes every day or every other. I recharged it for the first time just recently. I'm an amateur at this sort of DIY home therapy, it's all trial and error and I am in no way qualified to offer our experience as a medical recommendation. I don't even think this is the type of usage this product is offered for, I think it's strictly for pain relief - which is does well in my experience, with my old cracked spine bones and whiplash injuries. But to watch my husband's severe MS-caused weakness improve even just a tiny bit? that is reason to rejoice. We're very pleased with this amazing little thing.

Great product, recommend to everybody!
HI everybody, I am a 42 year old male who has severe restless leg syndrome. I have seen some people got well from rls using this tens machine. There was this research guy who showed us where to put the pads on our body, which he describes as the pressure points. We were getting treatment 3 times a week. After 3 months 6 out of 9 patients got well, they were saying they don't have the rls symptoms anymore. I personally got better %50. Now I did some more research on this and found out that there are some studies about neurostimulation for restless leg syndrome. Here is the link for the webinar for those who are interested: https://youtu.be/i-U9tcACN3U I am almost sure this stimulation with the tens unit has something to do with the activity of the brain causing the uncomfortable sensations. The million dollar question is; where to apply the pads? I don't quite remember where we put the pads during the treatment a few years ago. But when I looked at the "acupuncture treatment points guide" the brochure comes with the Nue Medics tens unit, I definitely can say that we were putting the pads on numbers: 89,92,23 and 58 at calf area. 25 and under big toe on foot. Also around the spinal cord I have some pictures of it. The new studies are promising, I hope one day soon they will identify the points to stimulate and whoever is suffering from rls gets better. If you are considering about buying a tense machine, I strongly recommend this Nue Medics brand. It has a very stylish box reminds me of an iPhone box, its very compact, easy to travel with. Pads are sticking very well (I advise to clean the area before applying the pad in order to get more life out of them eventually they wear.) It is also very easy to operate, it has several modes to chose from, I personally find the "tap" mode most effective for stimulating the nerves. Overall this Nue Medics tense unit is a bargain with the 15%off coupon, highly recommend.

A physio and/or deep tissue masseuse in your pocket
Honestly can't believe this thing is only $40. Bought my first of three of these several years ago, and the only reason they broke is because I stepped directly on one accidentally and then fell asleep on the other so many times that my body weight bent where the wires connect. But because it's basically the price of lunch for two, replacing it every couple years because of my own negligence feels like a fair price to pay IMO. I was first made aware of this when a physio told me about it while helping me deal with a ruptured disc in my lower back. When I first got it, I was blown away by the sheer power of it. It's roughly the size of smart phone, yet it really packs a punch if you crank it up all the way. Products like foam density rollers or massage chairs don't even come close to what this thing can do. The fact that you can up the strength very incrementally is also super helpful, since your muscles will naturally loosen as you use it and are able to handle a higher setting. I also really appreciate the number of settings it has – I use "KNEAD" and "ACU" most frequently as they feel the most like a deep tissue massage to me. If you're like me and had never used something like this before, it'll feel a bit like you're wiring a bomb the first time you use it. It uses two sets of red and black wires (two coming out of each port), for a total of four wires that connect to four sticky pads, which you obviously stick to your body. How you arrange these four sticky pads is key, and will take a bit of trial and error before you work out exactly where you want them (you'll likely figure this out within the first 30 minutes to an hour of using it in my experience). Long story short, you'll want to use the pads to create a rectangle around the area that creates a problem, and cross the wires so that one set is connected to the lower left and upper right pads, and the other to the lower right and upper left pads (it's easier to work out than it probably sounds). The closer you place the pads on your body and the smaller you make the rectangle, the more intense the therapy will be when you crank it up. Creating a bigger rectangle will allow you to cover a bigger area on your body, but it will be slightly less intense as you crank it up. Another thing I really appreciate about this thing is that replacement pads and wires are incredibly cheap. The pads last a long time, but eventually the stickiness wears off and they'll need to be replaced. The wires also eventually need to be replaced, but they're cheap as well. Another thing I really love about this unit is how infrequently and how briefly you need to charge the battery. I feel like I only charge it for about 10 minutes and it's fully charged, and usually use it several times before I even remember to charge it and it still has plenty of battery. They even go so far as to include different size and shapes of pads for you to play around with as you figure out what works best for you (including a pair of heart shaped ones attached to a cute thank you note). All told, this thing has been a real life saver for me over the years, and I don't throw that around lightly. Sometimes the ruptured disc in my back is so bad I can't really stand straight, but using this for even just 20 minutes usually at least loosens up the surrounding muscles enough where I don't look like a pretzel when I stand up. I should've left a review years ago, but it didn't dawn on me until I was using this thing today that doing so might help a prospective buyer in the future. I have no idea if the folks from NueMedics get around to reading these reviews, but if so...thank you so much for making my life a less painful existence. I really can't thank you enough.

Good portable TENS unit, poor directions, some intensity-control problems
A very good TENS unit with plenty of power and fairly easy to use--good battery life and the control unit easily fits in a pocket so the whole thing is portable--you can have a treatment and do whatever else you need to do. The directions, however, are pathetic--if I hadn't seen TENS units at my chiropractors office, I would have had no idea what to do with it. Anyway, it does a nice job of controlling the muscle clampdowns of cervical dystonia. It's easy to use with the sticky patch-electrodes, but the intensity controls are problematic; there are quite a lot of intensity settings from barely perceptible #1 to way too high #10. And this is an important matter because the TENS electrodes should stimulate the muscles but not cause cramps and pain. But that's hard to do because unfortunately the first few lower settings are too far apart in intensity so that setting #2 is too soft, barely perceptible, but the next setting #3 is way too powerful--already into cramps and pain with no setting in between to pull back to. The higher settings are completely useless to me--I think they would cause intense pain and muscle damage--so what is needed is is more gradations at the very lowest levels.

Works as promised
I purchased this to relieve lower back muscle strain symptoms. I had no experience with TENS unit relief until I got assistance from a chiropractor years prior for mid-back and neck problems. I'm not a regular visitor to his office, once or twice a year or less. I was always curious about buying one for myself. A friend told me he bought one on line and said it works very well so I decided to give it a try. The device my chiropractor employs is obviously much more industrial than this unit but I can state this is quite comparable. It shipped in short order and came with comprehensive instructions all in a nice cardboard box with a magnetic closure for storage. There is a reference sheet for proper placement of the pads in relation to the affected area you wish to treat. Proper pad placement is a must. I can't stress enough the importance of reading the user's manual completely before you begin. There are multiple options for intensity and rhythm of the modes as well as settings for the duration. It defaults to 20 minutes and you can increase or decrease the duration from there. It did give me relief from my discomfort. I use the same method as my chiropractor. An application of Biofreeze gel (or similar), localized heat, and the TENS unit. This is an effective trifecta to take the edge off and I did it several times a day as I was hurting pretty bad. To the point that lifting my legs while sitting almost caused me to buckle. I also bombed it with 800 mg (prescription dose) of Ibuprofen though I understand that may not be a good option for everyone. This unit packs enough juice to make your muscles visibly flex and jerk when you crank it up to the higher levels, same as the device at my chiropractor's office, but in a much smaller package. On another note, I forgot to register my device for the warranty for over a month but that was not a problem. Their web site was very easy to navigate and my Amazon order number entry populated the necessary fields on the warranty registration page. Numedics promised an extra supply of gel pads for registering my product and they delivered on their promise. My extra pads arrived in short order. I dropped it once, about 24 inches, onto a hard floor. It didn't break and still worked. Maybe I got lucky. I am very satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it to a friend.

Fantastic Product
Great product in every way, excellent backlit screen, controls are easy to use and have good feedback when pressed. Pads are very sticky and you get a lot of them in different sizes. Battery life is amazing and it came fully charged. I ran it on one set of leads for over 5 hours and it still showed the max level. Also very well packaged and arrived on time. Can't beat it in my opinion.

A mighty little unit
I’ve had chronic neck pain due to arthritis for the past 25+ years. I started having a lot of pain on the left side back in January. An MRI in May didn’t show any new issue other than arthritis. The only pain relief I got was from Motrin 800 or Advil. I also tried full spectrum CBD cream and tinctures from reliable companies but it didn’t help the pain. My doctor suggested I try a TENS unit. So glad I ordered this mighty little unit. From the first 20 minute treatment I could already notice a relief in pain. I do two 20 minute sessions each day and have been doing so for the past 5 days. It has helped immensely. I was skeptical at first but I am a believer now. Back in March I made the mistake of ordering the Neck Relief Massager that was advertised on the internet for $70+. After 2 mos of waiting and receiving nothing, I was reimbursed from PayPal. A week later it shows up in the mail. It didn’t work & was cheap garbage, so don’t waste your money on it. Instead, order this TENS unit. Today I also started using the TENS on my Noninsertional Achilles Tendinitis on my left heel so hopefully I’ll get some relief with that too. This unit is very easy to use and has other features too. The strength is comparable to the TENS units they have used on me in Physical Therapy.

This works great for tight muscles! I don't have to go to the chiropractor and massage as much!
UPDATED REVIEW: I LOVED this thing. It really helped me with my tight shoulder muscles, relaxing them. BUT I was in the middle of using it and it stopped. It showed a key icon in the top right corner. I had to google what I even meant because it didn't tell me in the instruction manual. The manual told me how to lock it. But it did not tell me how to unlock it. Google told me how but it does not work. So now I cannot use the device. I called the 800 number that was on the manual and even left a message with my phone number and they have never called me back. I didn't know how many stars to leave because it would have been 5 stars because it worked really well, but now it is 1 star because it doesn't work at all. UPDATE: They finally got back to me by email, and said that even though the battery showed full power, to charge it for 24 hours and it should reset it and unlock it. I charged it for 5 hours, and it worked.
