Gave me the answer I have been seeking
I've read many books over the years but this one is the best book in addressing my feelings of lingering unhappiness, anxiety about the future, regrets about my past and the sense that something was missing from my life. I'm so impressed by it that it compelled me to write my first review. After just reading it once, I already see my life differently because it made me realize it was my pattern of thinking (ruminating) that was causing my unhappiness and anxiety.I've read other books that stresses living in the moment but this is the first one that ties it in with anxiety in a way that make sense perfectly. It will take a while for me to completely learn this new way of thinking, and of course I'll have some slips and when I do,I have this wonderful book to guide me back. If I can only keep one book from my collection, it would be this one. Highly recommend it.

A Diamond Sutra for the Postmodern Age
Kumar is a trained psychologist as well as a Buddhist, a Buddhist Psychotherapist who works with cancer patients at Memorial Cancer Institute of the Memorial Healthcare System in Broward County, FL. His observations here are equally grounded in both modern psychology and Buddhist philosophy. It takes a person of real authenticity to make these connections. His prose is clear, his emotion is warm, and on a personal level I can tell you that he is the real deal, a true human being. There are clear thoughts here to guide us--all of us perplexed--and I heartily recommend.

A must-have for depressed ruminators
If depressive ruminations are ruining your life, this book might help. It's the only non-technical book that I can find that addresses this serious problem.Dr. Kumar promotes "mindfulness". This "involves witnessing thoughts as they arise, without feeding them, while mostly focusing your awareness on your breath". He writes that science supports this approach. The book promotes Buddhist teachings but does not preach or proselytize. I was a bit turned off though, when he refers to the Dalai Lama as "His Holiness". Nevertheless, I recommend this book for those suffering from depressive ruminations. As soon as I finished reading it, I started again from the beginning.

A very good book but it is difficult at present for me to give an accurate review because worry and rumination has not been so troublesome for me recently but when I received the book I started reading it and thought it very good. I believe this book will help a lot of people.

This is hands down the best book I have read outlining an approach to chronic worry. I have been using the author's suggestions, and am now seeing some real breakthroughs. I have tried countless other approaches with little improvement. This book is a godsend!

A book to attract worrying and ruminating
A great reference. Mainly focuses on mental relaxation ---mindlessness is the focus.(not too religious) while laying out simple sociological reasons why people rehash bad memories. If one is to look for detailed analysis regarding depression, this isn't the reference. But overall very pleased with it.

Read
One of the 10 best books I've ever read. Helped me deal with early stage breast cancer in thoughtful real way ( vs just listening to the scary circus of thoughts in my brain)

One of the best books on the subject of rumination
My wife enjoyed the insights offered by Sameet M. Kumar PhD. He had major understanding on the subject. Seems this subject is a problem in todays modern world for women.

Brilliant
I've read a few mindfulness books but this one seems to give the clearest and most comprehensive explanation of the approach. Locating the practice in its Buddhist roots and using some of the teachings helped me increase my understanding and gave me ideas about how best to approach my practice. The author is excellent at explaining often nebulous concepts in a clear, concise and practical way. I recommend this book to anyone looking to deal with their ruminating mind and start or continue their journey on the Mindful Path.

Wonderful read ! I highly recommend this book.
I really felt like the author had lived in my mind for awhile, Sameet really understands what it means to be lost in rumination.

Excellent
This book, above any other, was the main inspiration for me taking up a daily meditation practice. It also explains the maze of rumination so very well, and clearly explains how mindfulness makes changes in the brain that will help a person stop running through this maze. You may look at other books etc to refine the practice (in fact you definitely will); however, credit goes to Mr Kumar for driving home the benefits of mindfulness and engaging in formal meditation.Thank you Mr Kumar.Highly recommended.
