OHTO Extremely Thin Mechanical Pencil Minimo Sharp, 0.5mm, Black Body (SP-505MN-Black)

The pencil fits nicely in my wallet. Good quality. Did have some delivery issues but was eventually sorted.

Well, I have to blame myself. I wanted a SMALL pencil. But this is so small you csn hardly hold it.

The brilliant thing about this pencil is how small and well engineered it is. You can slip it into the coils of a spiral notebook or into a tiny bit of spare space in an EDC pouch. Or you can use the supplied plastic card to store it amongst the pages of a notebook or diary.It's perfectly functional, although its slimness means that you would only want to use it for occasional brief notes. And that's fine because the slimness is why you bought it.I've knocked off a star because the supplied leads are about 4H which makes the writing too faint for my liking. Also the Minimo is very finicky about what leads it will accept. First of all it's important to know that "0.5mm" leads are actually 0.6mm thick - no, I don't understand it either. I tried some "0.5mm" Ryman HB leads which measure 0.64mm on my Vernier caliper and they are too thick to go in the Minimo. Then I bought some Pentel Ain Stein HB "0.5mm" leads which measure EXACTLY 0.60mm and they work fine.

Exactly what I needed. It works well and the lead writes nice and black. The pencil fits into the spiral binding of my diary/notebook and the clip keeps it there. What more could I ask?

This incredibly small mechanical pencil uses widely available 0.5mm leads. It fits inside a box of playing cards, or in my case, my pocket box of watercolour paints perfectly. It’s just a pity that it’s body is black which, given its tiny size, makes it so hard to find if you put it down. Bright red/orange would be better.

I love… LOVE this pencil. I’m a scientist, and always need ready access to a pen and pencil to jot down an idea. The only things you will always have on you are your wallet and your keys (…I don’t use a mobile phone). This pencil is so small and unobtrusive it comfortably fits in my wallet. If I’m reading a book and want to jot some notes down in the margins, or want to scribble a spontaneous idea or work though some equations on the fly, this is my tool. When I’m at my desk I’ll use a Rotring 800, but ideas being what they are, they won’t always come when you’re at your desk and you have the proper tools at hand.The pencil is absolutely solid, mechanically speaking. It has a very reassuring click when extending the lead, and can store two or three leads in its vestibule (accessed like any other mechanical pencil by pulling the cap off). As far as I can tell, it is fully metal in construction. It is comfortable for what it is designed for, occassional use when its needed, despite its small size. Obviously you will want to use a full size pencil for serious work.In all, the best £7 I’ve ever spent. I was looking for something like this for years, and it really enhances my productivity.
