Q: will this work to get internet to my computer by attatching it to a coax port on the wall then running ethernet from the adapter to my computer?

I believe it only works Coax - Ethernet - Coax. The biggest problem you’ll have is the frequency range in which these operate. They are not designed to handle large bandwidth HD signals, this may effect your up/down speed. (According to company’s tech support)

Q: Will these baluns pass a DC voltage? Specifically, I'd like to use a power inserter (indoors) to power a pre-amp (outdoors) over a cat6 connection.

I am not sure about that configuration but I would think that they would pass the voltage.

Q: Does anyone know if this only uses one of the twisted pairs in the cable?

It supposes that yes, because the Coax cable has the equivalent to 1 pair, the internal wire and the shield.

Q: Are these baluns bi-directional? I would like to use them to extend the broadband internet signal another location accessible by cat 5e only.
