Good stuff
When renovating a victorian house it was found that the kitchen floor did not have a damp proof membrane (DPM). There was just a few inches of concrete above the earth below and water vapour was passing into the kitchen. Removal of the floor, adding a plastic DPM with insulation and screed would have been the ideal but was prohibitively expensive. I was looking for a 'paint on' rubberised DPM with a fast drying time and low odour onto which tiles could be directly laid. The local builders merchants sold bitumen based products but these would not accept tiles being directly laid onto them. I didn't want a two part paint as these would of had to be used straight away and any excess discarded. Perma-seal damp proof paint fitted the bill exactly. After careful preparation of the floor, removing lumps, bumps, repairing cracks, sweeping and vacuuming Perma-seal paint was applied. It was blue when wet and black when dry. It's worth pointing out that no matter how good a DPM is, it can only be expected to work if the floor or wall is prepared properly, structural defects, leaking pipes etc are fixed and complete coverage is ensured. The first coat dried in about an hour. The second coat dried overnight. Being a different colour when wet helped ensure an even application. The result was a smooth tough finish. The smell of damp had gone and there was no unpleasant odour from the paint. I stuck the tiles to the floor directly onto the paint using Wickes rapid set white tile adhesive which worked very well. Full marks to Perma-seal, highly recommended. Fitted the bill exactly. Please see the before and after photos.

Great paint, once you get it open.
This coating is amazing, smells like Copydex glue/rubber. Goes on lovely, adheres well and several weeks latter still looking good. Worth the money, really hard to open, I complained about this to permaseal, but they said it was Needed to protect in transit. So take care when levering off the top with a large flat blade screwdriver. I poured the balance in to an easyer to open container. Forgot to say coverage is really good and yes I would buy it again.
