GM CLIMBING 40kN Rescue Figure 8 Descender with Bent-Ear Rappelling Gear Belay Device

Seems to be good quality, if it fails and I die I might change my review though.

I am using this rescue 8 for my aerial silks rigging. The large body makes it a perfect fit to wrap the silks fabic through. I have used it only a couple times but it seems solid, lightweight, and very secure. Great peice for the price, it was the best deal I found. I've read the red anondizing may come off but that is cosmetic to me and I can simply repaint.

This is a very well made rappelling device. Its is a bit bigger than I expected, but functions exceptionally. This devise also has "ears" which make it possible to lock off the device while descending. The only con as far as i can tell is that the red coating comes off easily, but this isnt a major problem; it will still fuction great. At this price, you couldnt ask for a better rescue 8.

As everyone else has mentioned, its HUGE, it looks like you could hang your car off it which certainly gives you a sense of security. Sure the other guys say their ATC doesn't twist the rope, but can they hang a minivan off their device? no. You could probably use it to fight off a bear and its always nice that a rescue 8 can lock off easy mid repel which is why most go with this option. If you are a wuss who needs to save on weight, this is not for you, its a tank.

Great arrival time, sturdy, beautiful color (although there was a minute part of it without color), great weight.Details: This rescue figure 8 isn't rounded, it is more of squarish with rounded edges.Only issue for me would be packaging, since these really should be sent out with some sort of protection to avoid it getting hit/dented, but since I shipped it all together in one amazon shipment, instead individually, maybe that was it.

I haven't fallen off a cliff due to it breaking so so far so good. If anything changes, I will update my review.
