Another great decaf coffee from this company and their decaf water based process - Colombian and Mexican also great Decafs
This is one of three decaf coffees I have tried which have been prepared using this water based method. I am very very pleased with the result. All three of the coffees from this company prepared in this method, while of different flavor being different coffee beans, are excellent in flavor and quality. All of them were shipped with the roast date/exp date so I have an idea of how recently they were roasted. When compared to a high quality non-decaf coffee bean the roasted beans have noticeably less 'coffee odor', but when prepared as French Press or Espresso all of these decaf roasts (done with this water method of decaf) have had excellent coffee flavor and lots of Crema. I intend to get these again and try other flavors from the same company decaf from the same process. EDIT March 03 2015: The ones I first tried from this company (Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC) were the Colombian, Sumatra, and the Mexican SWP Decaf coffees. I have since also tried the Indian Monsoon decaf from the same company. The Indian Monsoon did not have a roast date or an expiration date, but it had a good aroma to the beans. However, it has a very fleeting (although good) flavor and absolutely no Crema whatsoever (see review PHOTO). I prefer the Mexican, then the Colombian and Sumatra and the Indian last of the four Decafs. The first three of them are really great, but the Indian has a shorter lived and less pronounced flavor than the other three so I do not like it quite as much. I will most certainly buy again all four of them, as they are all good in their own way with the Colombian being exceptional. I have also now tried four other Decafs prepared with supposedly a similar water based process, but I have not found them to have the same flavor as these - although some are close. I prepare all of them with an Insulated French Press which keep the brew temperature within about 203 to 193 during the brew process, and I do not add anything to the coffee (not milk, sugar, or anything else). I get Coffees I like with anything from about 20 to 30 grams per 12 to 16 oz of water. If I am comparing one coffee to another I will measure exactly, but normally I'll just grind about 25g give or take and use about 13 to 15 oz of water. I have yet to get a result that isn't great with these coffees. p.s. I use decaf coffee because it helps with blood glucose levels - and caffeine does the opposite.

Delicious Decaf Coffee
I am really enjoying this coffee. I need a decaf low acid coffee for health reasons. The gourmet blend is so good. It has a wonderful aroma while brewing. I love that it is a water processed decaf—no chemicals involved. Also, it is organic and fair trade certified. Hits all the important features for me. I don’t think anyone who buys this coffee will be disappointed.

Tasty But A Little Too Light
This coffee tastes good but I had to use quite a bit to make a strong, dark cup of coffee.

Excellent Coffee
So my Doctor told me to quite coffee because of elevated blood pressure. Quit Coffee??? Why don't you just rip out my Heart. Well, sigh, Ok. So I went out a bought a decaf blend that met every expectation of what decaf would taste like, Bland, Acidic, Yuk. I knew that there had to be great decaf out there and so I began my search. After checking out several brands, descriptions, and prices, I chose the Fresh Roast Coffee brand. I purchased two pounds each of the Sumatra, Ethiopian, and Colombian. I took equal parts of the three and made a blend. Wow. Now this is some Awesome Decaf Coffee. Rich and Flavorful. I take mine black with sugar and I am not missing out on anything. I will be tasting the individual coffees as I go along but given what I taste now, they will all be great by themselves. I have been decaffeinated now for about a month and now that I have these products, going decaf will not be a problem. Also, now that I have retired, I really don't need that daily caffeine "Liftoff" to launch me through the day. And a definite side benefit, I am sleeping much better through the night. Sounds like a Win - Win to me.

Great find!
I purchase my organic regular coffee from Costco at a great price but recently started drinking less caffeine and had a very difficult time finding a good, organic, water-processed decaf at a reasonable price. I found a cheap one through Walmart's site but even though it was organic and water-processed I didn't know if I could trust that it would be tasty. I scoured Amazon and was thrilled to find this Sumatra. I was looking for something lower acid, not too dark (don't care for French) and the Sumatra seemed to meet all my criteria, including being available through Prime, and from the description and packaging and reviews, I got the sense that these guys are the real deal and that there was a good chance the coffee would be really high quality. 5 pounds of coffee is a lot but the price was much more affordable and since it's whole bean, I felt more secure that it would stay fresh since I could just grind small batches at a time. We're really pleased with it. Nice, full flavor and mild on the stomach. I usually blend it 2/3 - 1/3 with my SF Bay Organic caffeinated coffee and it's delicious.

Not great Coffee
I ordered 3 bags of decaf because I have a problem with caffeine. Sumatra was the first bag I opened and it did not even smell like coffee, smelled like chemicals and stale. I ground it up and made coffee and it gave me a headache and raised my BP. I opened a bag of regular Sumatra from Acme and it was fresh and smelled wonderful. The roasting of the decaf was dark black, just about burned and the the regular from Acme was dark brown and smooth. Send note to company and they said it was water processed, but I have had water process before and it was not like this. I threw coffee away. Company asked me to try the Peruvian Decaf, which I did, and it just as bad. Doesn't smell like coffee at all. Beans were black and had a burnt smell to them, didn't smell like medium roast at all more like dark roast. I have more more bag to open of Mexican, but can't send back, too late. See what happens but looks like I will be throwing away another bag.
