- XTOOL IP500 for BMW OBD2 Scanner, Full Systems Bidirectional Scan Tool

Only scanned 3 vehicles so far. This unit will do 95 percent of the functions for BMW of my scanners that cost 8 times more. This unit is not wireless, so it connects faster and powers the scanner. The more expensive units have to boot up and connect via bluetooth or wifi. I will update as I get more vehicles to scan. Easy to use and fast. You save because you ate not paying for vehicles you don't have. My updates for the top of the line scanners I have cost 3-4 times the cost of this unit. So you get a tool that will diagnose and give bi directional control to troubleshoot any problems. Plus you have xtool support, which has not let me down. Just send a message and they will get back to you. I have several Xtool scanners, best bang for the buck. UPDATE 2017 X5 turbo wastegate install, Has service position for motors to remove and install, plus test and calibration. Way more service options then Autel Ultra scan for BMW vehicles, plus costs less then most scanners yearly update fees. BMW owners and mechanics don't pass this one up. Will let you use all the cars built in service functions.

Does everything you need for a 2010 328I xdrive, i bought this to relearn transfer case motor change and oil change, i realized the transfer case was bad after the tool kept giving me an error saying that it cant relearn due to a failure. Come to find out the clutch plates welded together and the motor couldn't adapt. Saved me a lot of time before i had to drop the exhaust. Also when replacing a window regulator with an aftermarket one, you must relearn the window limits which this scanner can do also.

I had to replace both batteries in our 2002 BMW X7 M50i. With that, the new batteries had to be "registered". I first downloaded the BimmerLink / BimmerCode apps that claimed they provided this battery registration function. After paying the fees, I attempted to register both batteries. I was able to register the main battery (if you install a different type/rating battery, you need to first re-code the battery and then register) but could not find where I could register the auxiliary battery. After contacting them, they notified me that that function was not available in the apps. I then went on Amazon and searched through many OBD tools and came across the XTool IP500 and so I sent them my VIN to see if the tool would allow me to register both batteries. They replied fairly quick and confirmed that it would perform that function, so I decided to move forward with purchase. I have to say they are very responsive to my questions (typically I would get the next day). Being the tool has many other functions for resetting maintenance and service functions without having to go the dealer is very useful, so as long as you plan on doing that yourself, this is essential to have.

Still working till this day ! Although some options don’t really work it will work great for BMWs and does what it needs for the price. Gives you live data and is easy to store in car

I used it several times on used BMWs. Worked great right out of the box. Just connect the cable from the OBD2 scanner to the car port and press auto scan to find any trouble codes. Easy and simple to use. Pretty durable and made to withstand tough job environment. The rugged rubber cover protects the exterior case of the tool. There is also live monitoring graphs feature so the problems can be diagnosed and pinpointed further. If you are looking for more advanced features like a professional mechanic at a dealership, this probably isn’t it but for basic scans and features, this will be hard to beat for the value.

Updated 4 times as required. Still would not auto-locate VIN. THEN trying to decipher the instructions to do something as simple as EPB service mode resulted in Faults and further frustrations. Sent it back this morning and did my brakes with manual EPB release this afternoon. Waste of time for something that was advertised as being easy and simple to operate.

10/10 been having all kinds of weird issues with my bmw on cheap scanner, hooked this one up cleared the codes did a live data test and fuel pump was not putting any fuel to the motor whatsoever was trying but wouldn’t even budge .5ghp, the bar graph and psi table is super easy and convenient to use! Will definitely buy another for our ford and gm vehicles

It dose not work with what I needed it for.. It dose not do crankshaft sensor relearn on my bmw 328i. Like it says

Great scanner, I tried it on BMW 1 series and could find out why it couldn't regenerate the DPF filter. The pump is blocked and the coolant keeps the temperature low, it found also some others issues that need to be fixed. I think for the price it's the best choice for who likes to fix things by it's own not only for the mechanics

This is a must have tool for anyone with an older BMW. Small and compact, it easily can be stored in the trunk to get you out of problematic electrical faults. Specific to the E63/E64, codes causing in operation of the convertible top are easily cleared for reset and operation. Service codes cleared in seconds. Simple intuitive operation.

It was good for all it can do but for the deep problem solving for a bmw I found it wanting. General use it’s great and good value for money. Deep problem solving you will need a much more capable unit
