Scalextric QuickBuild C1301 Demolition Derby 1:32 Scale Race Set

I bought this for my 8 and 10 year old boys as I was always having to remind them previously that the Scalextric cars were fragile and shouldnt be crashed too much! When I found this set it reminded me of a superb toy I had as a child that comprised two pull-cord powered stock cars that came to pieces when crashed, plus the unquestionable appeal of Scalextric.With this they can go for their lives and smash and / or race 'em as much as they want.I wasnt disappointed and to say this was their favourite present of the year is an understatement - they have been using it pretty much non-stop since Christmas Day, only pausing briefly to convert the setup back into a Digital set to run some other cars.. however, they soon wanted it back as the Demolition Derby set and resume the crashing!It is really well built, the cars go together (and come to pieces!) really well, they stand up to the abuse well and are certainly designed for purpose.I cant criticise at all and was delighted to see that the basic quickbuild pattern also integrates with some lego pieces so my boys were making modifed race cars, combining the two car parts and lego!I recommend this without hesitation. Amazon was straightforward as ever and the product arrived very quickly.

This was a no-brainer purchase for our 6-year old son for Christmas. I loved Scalextric as a boy so this was a chance to introduce him to slot car racing and for me to get back into it. Our experience on Christmas Day was awful - we opened the set, built it...and nothing worked. We checked the building instructions to make sure I hadn't overlooked anything, but no, it was dead. After some fiddling of cables and tweaking of braids on the bottom of the cars, one worked intermittently but then wisps of smoke starting to appear from the hand-controller. At this point we packed it up and waited a couple of days to speak to the Scalextric Customer Service people. After some really basic checks, they confirmed our set was most definitely faulty.At this point you'd think I'd give this review a poor rating but actually I was very impressed with Amazon's online exchange process. We filled in the forms, a replacement set was dispatched and the faulty unit collected (at no cost) the next day. The new set arrived quickly and worked perfectly. That's where the fun began.The track is easy to assemble and cars are cool. They are fairly easy to build but definitely require a bit of adult help to get some of the parts to fit properly. When you race you quickly start to develop tactics and engineer full-on collisions on the crossover section as that's where the most spectacular crashes occur. My 6-year old and I spent the whole afternoon racing. We're also big LEGO fans and the studs on the car bases are compatible with regular LEGO bricks, so it wasn't long before we had our LEGO Lone Ranger and Tonto on their horses on the base base of the cars, charging around the track. We also built some custom cars to race.We also purchased the Ultimate Track Extension Pack and I would definitely recommend this as a worthwhile upgrade to the basic circuit included in the Demolition Derby set. It gives you plenty more opportunities to side-swipe your opponent for some proper carnage. My only fear is that when we get some more cars that are not meant to be destroyed, we'll have to take a lot more care when racing. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it...

Not happy with this purchasing decision.Bought one for my son's 8th Birthday, assembled it for my son, one track seemed to have no electricity .., the power pack was broken. Anazon sent another one next day, brilliant. But my son just wouldn't even look at it, Eventually assembled it anyway, it worked but my son still doesn't want it. He was very excited by it at first, but I guess having it not work poured cold water on the idea. So I paid a bargain price.., but didn't get a bargain. Will not be buying any scalextric again and would warn others to stay away. Even if Amazon replace them, there's still the disappointment to deal with from your children. Ruined Birthdays aren't good (this was a main present). Scalextric need to sort some more effective quality control.

When the first box arrived, both the lego cars did not work. We were very disappointed! We were able to return the product promptly and were delivered another another box the next day - which was very good!However, when the second box arrived it was in such a poor condition. The box was not sealed, the bag of lego pieces for the cars was already ripped open and scattered all over the box. Even one piece was missing! Yet again, another car did not work and all the items inside the box looked as if they had already been used before. Shocking!We were able to return the box again, but my 6 year old son was so disappointed that we have asked for a refund instead. We did not want to disappoint him again. Such a shame as we were looking forward to playing with it as it had such good reviews.

I really like this. Lots of laughter when the cars crash and fall to pieces and no risk of damage. However, one of the cars has stopped working after only a few days of play as one of the soldered joints broke. Now have to re-solder that which is a real shame. The panels can be a bit fiddly for the kids to put to put back on the cars, but as I say it's excellent fun.

It was an amazing Xmas present for my son (and me!!)Put together ever so well and was great fun for I guess about 2 hours running time in total but first on one car and then the other rear tyres came loose which glue sorted the first but the second slipped inwards and burnt out the motor. It really should last better

This product truly deserves five stars...nice product, good quality and great fun for kids. I was not sure about the seller but felt it is worth a try with huge discount and luckily it paid off. Got it for 5k two months back for our five year old. Assembly is not difficult but can not be done by kids themselves. He simply loves it!!!!

Ayant eu un problème avec le 1er circuit commandé, amazon m'en a de suite renvoyé un autre, plus aucun problème, très bon circuit, des heures d'amusement

Die Rennbahn ist super und macht extrem viel Spaß, nicht einfach nur sinnloses Im-Kreis-Rasen... Die Idee, AUtos aus Lego-Steinen als Renn-Autos zu benutzen, ist einfach toll und man kann die Autos auch gut "aufmotzen". Die Crashs machen sogar mir als Mama super viel Spaß.Einen viertel Punkt Abzug gibt es theoretisch dafür, dass man gerade am Anfang einen Lötkolben griffbereit haben sollte, um die Drähte nach ein paar Crashs wieder zu befestigen.Aber insgesamt absolte Kaufempfehlung!!

Je connais bien cette marque depuis plus de 40 ans!Acheté a mes enfants en me disant que c'était du costaud,Je suis déçu car une roue est cassé sur une voiture mais bon, mon fils est un brisefer...

Fuer den Geburtstag unseres sieben jährigen Sohnes, haben wir uns bewusst gegen Carrera entschieden, da die Bahn selber regelmäßig auf- und abgebaut wird, und unser Sohn nicht zu den vorsichtigsten Kindern gehört. Außerdem erschien uns die eingebaute Möglichkeit des gewollten Crashs genau richtig. Und wir hatten recht!Die flexible Bahn musste schon sehr viel aushalten, hat sich bis jetzt jedoch (nach einem Monat) super gehalten. Die Kreuzung ist immer noch einer der Höhepunkte, so dass wir mehr als zufrieden mit der Bahn sind. Bei beiden Autos sind, wegen den vielen Zusammenstößen, die Kabel zum Motor losgegangen (nach einem Tag spielen). Diese sind jedoch einfach wieder zu löten, und bis jetzt ist es nicht wieder passiert.
