Five stars for the printer, one star for the lack of instructions
The printer itself is great. I've used both Zink and instant film printers in the past, with less than great results. Zink always looks a bit muddy, and the colours change with temperature. Instant film is nice if you like a retro vibe, but with modern images always looks a bit off, and the prints are incredibly thick so not ideal for scrapbooking or journaling. This, however, is awesome. It's the same great Canon quality, but without having to lug around a full sized photo printer. The colours pop without being unrealistic or bleeding into each other, the lines are crisp and clear, and even the teeny tiny images you get in a 9-photo collage (the largest number allowed in square format) are detailed enough to use without feeling like you're compromising on something. I expected I'd only be able to use full sized images like with my Zink or Instax printers, but I've ended up using collages more often than not. The few things I'd change are relatively minor: 1: There's no instruction booklet included with the printer, nor any easy way to locate instructions online. This leads to silly mix-ups, like not realising that there are little tabs to flip up for proper positioning with card-sized photo paper. 2: You can't swap between card and square format paper without also swapping out the ink cartridge, as ink cartridges are designed to work only with one format or the other. Since I like to go back and forth between sizes a lot, this is a bit bothersome. 3: Along similar lines, I wish you could buy *only* paper or *only* ink instead of having to buy ink + paper packs. The cartridges are meant to be calibrated to print the number of photos included in the pack, but the reality varies quite a bit. If you, like me, take a lot of black and white photos, you're likely to run out of ink long before you run out of paper. Alternately, I'd love an option for black & white paper + cartridge packs. 4: "Borderless" printing is not actually borderless. The thick bottom border is always present, though in square format you can place it on either side or on top if you like. It's not a huge problem, but it would be nice to have a true borderless option. Overall, though, I can't imagine going back to any other type of travel printer. There are far fewer trade-offs with this than there are with the other options, especially when it comes to image quality. I use it more often than my regular photo printer at this point, just because it's so convenient for quick journaling photos.

The best of mini printers
This printer is awesome. Clear photos with a sticky back and it’s small enough to travel with, who could ask for more.

Everything I Ever Wanted!
I have tried many different photo printers through the years and would say that this has been my favorite one EVER! The previous QX10 was my go-to but I absolutely love that this printer can print 2 different sizes and jumped at this as soon as I saw it for pre-order. I reach for this printer more than I don't (I would say 9 times of 10) and has been a staple for my daily journaling routine. The paper has a sticker backing which is very convenient. The paper is also thin enough that using it in my Hobonichi journals (and other journals) thickens up the book the least amount, compared to its competitors. The print quality has been the best of the others as well, most accurate color and clarity as I've been able to find so far for this type of printer. Easy to setup and connected to my phone with no issues at all. And I got to printing right away! Switching the paper type is simple as well and takes little time. I had no durability issues with the previous model, in fact I sold it to a friend and she has been loving it just as much as I did. I do not expect this new version to be any less durable. If you currently have the QX10 and are looking to upgrade, the only noticeable difference I can see are the paper sizes. Otherwise print quality and use have been very similar if not completely the same. For reference I have owned the following: HP Sprocket, HP Lifeprint, Polaroid Hi-Print, Instax SP-2, Instax SP-3, Instax Mini Evo, Instax Mini Link, Canon QX10, Canon CP1300

Great for most purposes, high-quality output
Overall, I am pretty happy with this printer - it gives me the capacity to print custom craft items on the spot. The image clarity is good and skin tones are well matched (better than the Kodak Retro 2 Mini that I returned). The battery life was impressive and I seem to be getting a little bit extra output on my first ink cartridge. The sticky back on the paper is not very sticky, however, and for my purposes, I had to take the back off the print and replace it with a different adhesive. Personally, I also wish there was a matte option for the prints rather than the clear coating that goes over the top.

my junk journaling bestie
I love this machine! I use it for junk journaling and impromptu stickers. It’s portable and prints don’t take long. My only complaint is I can’t find the refill pages in person and the paper is almost a dollar a sheet ☹️. Quality is top tier and won’t fade nearly as fast as ZINK models. Super reliable and the app is cute if you don’t already have a preferred photo editing app. the photo paper are glossy, not sure if canon offers matte photos for this printer.

Buy the film/cartridge pkg at same time
One star until I get the film and cartridges. The SELPHY Q20 pkg does not come with even a sample size of the film/cartridge. Ordered it at same time but it hasn’t been sent out yet. Disappointed. Like most Canon products, the PDF manual is on line and has to be printed.

Worth the money, much better than old model
I was hesitant due to the price and the fact that I have the older Cannon SELPHY and am not entirely happy with that one. The ild version required a lot of in app photo editing to get the photos to print out true to color. And even then there was trial and error, which cost me expensive paper. This version, however, prints true to color every picture every time with zero editing required! Worth every penny, so glad I bought it for my daily journaling. I believe the pictures end up being $.50 each when it’s all said and done, but since I know, I’m getting the results I want the first time without trial and error. It’s totally worth it.

It is not functioning properly. The printer creates a white textured line, similar to a scratch, in the middle of the photos. The issue appears on newly printed photos, even when they are not touched or stacked, and the texture can be felt on the paper. At first, I thought the issue might be caused by the paper or the ink. Because of that, I purchased a new original Canon printing kit, but the problem continued exactly the same.I am using original Canon paper, and the issue repeats on multiple prints. This indicates a defect in the printing process, not a handling issue. For this reason, I would like to return or exchange the product. I even thought the issue was caused by the paper or ink, so I bought a new original Canon printing kit, but the problem continued.
