NASA knows what they are doing, the tea is a nice temperature for longer, even without the plastic lid.If I had a complaint it would be that the lid has a very small hole. It is in line with other travel mugs but while relaxing at home, it would be nice to have the thermal benefits of a lid without having to deal with a dribble of tea like one of those chumps who drive to work everyday

If you're looking for a mug that is going to keep your drink at a consistent temperature, look at other mugs, such as the Ember, that will allow you to set a temperature that will be maintained.If you just want the beverage to be drinkable over a period of 1 to 1.5 hours, then the Burnout mug is the way to go. No charging! It uses beeswax inside the stainless steel walls of the mug to re-distribute heat back into the cup. This redistribution is known as phase-change.After pouring, put the lid on and let it sit for a few minutes. The beeswax hardens after cooling, so letting the mug sit for a few minutes after filling will allow the beeswax to soften and allow it to absorb and then radiate the absorbed heat.It sounds crazy, but it works.

The innovative insulation design works. My tea remains drinkable at my favoured temperature for far longer then my normal insulated mug when working in the garden, workshop or lost in thought while reviewing papers. My wife has now “borrowed” my mug so I’ve had to order a second one!

The cup is well constructed and is heavy. So does it work as intended, I've found if you use it per the instructions it keeps hot coffee and a good temp for drinking till it's gone....for me 20 min. If you pre heat the cup it stays at a higher temp just as long but kinda defeats the drinkability the cup is made to give you. Even without the temp regulating aspect it's a great cup made in the USA and will continue to use.
