VOX ROX: A Brief History of the Evolution of Popular Western Music in the late 20th Century
H**E
Refreshingly about the people rather than the songs or groups or trends
This volume and its successor are musicologically specialized and 'niche' items, more vernacular or independent than 'popular' by some definitions of popular music and more Brit than elsewhere. But the interviews will form an important and not available elsewhere oral history record for the future. Strongly recommended for fans of the groups surveyed in the books and for libraries affiliated with institutions with courses in cultural studies, music history, or the cultural history of the late 20th century.
