Fast drive that stays cool
While I've never heard of the brand (GiGimundo), I was in the market for a speedy, medium capacity drive that I could put movies onto for when I travel. I like to use 4k films that often eclipse 19 or 20GBs, so I wanted something around 512GB or so. This fit the bill. The drive/device itself made of aluminum on all sides, and feels very sturdy and borderline heavy. Size-wise, it's about like 2 Snickers candy bars side-by-side. Pocket sized, but just barely (for men's pockets). The package includes a USB-C to USB-C cable with USB-C to USB-A adapter attached to one side--handy if you don't have a USB C port on your PC. But, if you don't have a USB C port, you won't have Thunderbolt, and in that case I don't know if this drive is worth the price premium. You buy this drive bc of the Thunderbolt interface. The internal SSD sports a read speed of 3800MBps (or 3.8GBps). That's really fast, but not Earth shattering. Definitely fast enough for me though! After a week or usage, I've noticed that the case and the internal fan keep the drive cool enough that I've never noticed any throttling, even after lots of benchmarks.I have attached some of those benchmarks to my review, along with the speed of a large disk write for my particular use scenario.

It docked, which is good!
I bought a harddrive for my macbook air and it didn't show up. This one did. My one complaint is that the cable was not secure. I used my own cable, fine. Otherwise a solid item, and designed to feel sturdy.

Speedy drive that works with Chromebooks.
Yes, plugged it in and it was recognized immediately! Awesome fast drive for an old timer such as myself and I'm floored. I used it to back up an oldie but goodie drive of media files from 2017-2018 and it did great! I have been needing to get those files onto another drive just so I can rest easy, and this was the answer at the perfect time!Very pleased with this drive and nice that the cable can handle USB A and USB C ports with its built in adapter. The drive ran on its own power using the USB C port on this older Chromebook from 2019. Very happy and relieved and thankful to have it.Highly recommended!

Awesome little drive!
I do a lot of video capturing, and that takes up a LOT of space, so I'm always making backups of backups. This thing is easy; plug it in and backups can be done super fast. Other reviews here have excellently gone into the technical specs of this and the exact speeds, but as a casual user, I can observe that this is a pretty smooth device and I have no complaints. Always happy to have another backup in the arsenal when a drive seems like it might be flagging. And the super compact size is a massive bonus! Worth it.

Fan trouble, gets very hot
My unit may be something of a dud, not sure how common this is but the fan makes a terrible grinding noise when it works at all. I was able to get the fan to start again by sharply rapping the drive on the table, so I suspect there's a physical obstruction bouncing around inside the case -- I advise seeing if other reviewers have a similar issue, because if not I suspect this would make a really nice drive if the thermals worked correctly and write speed could be maintained.I have the 512 gb model, which had an actual capacity of around 476.91 GB on my system. I tested with a MacBook M1 and the supplied cable. I tested the device using f3. Write speeds started very respectably around 1.9 GB/s, but the speeds dropped to around 360 MB/s as the capacity reached ~50%. Around the same time the fan stopped entirely and the device got incredibly hot. Here are the f3 results:Write:Wrote: 476.91 GBAverage writing speed: 523.76 MB/sRead:Data OK: 476.91 GB (1000148338 sectors)Data LOST: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Corrupted: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Slightly changed: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Overwritten: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Average reading speed: 1.66 GB/s
