Excellent value for money for standard sized rooms
Bought this to complement a Samsung 40" TV (18 months old). First impressions were good - it is solid and well built. It was easy to plug in using an HDMI cable (NOT supplied) to the ARC socket on the TV. The control remote is a little strange and not designed to be intuitive, but as soon as we switched on everything can be controlled using the TV remote and settings. It sits between the TV's Y stand legs and looks good. Sound clarity is very good and it works excellently for people who have any hearing difficulties. It is used in a room sized 4metres x 3m (13'x10'), with sliding doors that open onto the garden. Whether the doors are open or closed the sound quality is excellent and the level can cope with any noise from outside - importantly, without it having to be on so loud that it disturbs the neighbours.

Great sound bar
Easy to set up,I used a HDMI lead (not supplied) ,just follow the simple instructions in the manual .there was an optical cable supplied as well . The bar has a good bass and the sound quality is also quite good a lot better than the sound that was coming through the tv speakers, it will also playback songs that you have on your mobile phone using the bluetooth conectivety pairing The Bar also turns on and off when you turn on the tv or anything else that's connected to it.The remote is small but still easy to use ,once you figure out what you can do with it.(took me a little while to figure out)The bar lights up briefly when you adjust the settings using the remote.(volume ,treble, bass, etc,)and i was able to use my sony tv remote straight away to adjust the volume without having to pair it up.all in all a good sound bar

Excellent Value for Money
This bar is quite adequate for most normal TV viewing. In a small/medium room it has bags of power, and enough bass and mid-range for most peoples' everyday use. If you expect a cinema quality HiFi sound you will be disappointed, if you have reasonable expectations bearing in mind the price, you will be pleased. The sound is, for example, way better than my old Bose Solo 5 bar and it's much cheaper. I bought it because I have new Samsung Smart TV and as a Samsung bar it automatically aligns itself with the TV which the old Bose would not. The oddly laid out remote control is, well ..... odd. If you have a Samsung TV you will almost never need it anyway as the TV remote will handle all the normal operations but you might want it to set the various sound options once.

Exceptional quality of sound for the money
I chose this model after reading reviews and because it was a more compact size to fit under my 29 inch LG tv. The installation is easy using the template provided and it looks great. Connected it using an hdmi cable into the tv hdmi arc and after some set up issues that were to do with the tv the sound bar was on. Great sound quality for a reasonably priced unit, very controllable via the tv remote once set up using the Samsung remote, it only needs the tv remote as it adjusts volume and automatically switches on/ off. I leave it on the surround sound setting as it gives a clear crisp sound with depth. A great product for the money.

I can highly recommend the sound bar.
It complements my Samsung TV that was my Christmas present last year. I was looking for a “modest” sound bar as my hearing depends on two hearing aids and “sound quality” is something I worried about in the past. After saying that I am pleased with the compatibility of TV & bar, only one wire for power, after initial simple set up it works perfectly. The sound I am very happy with ,the surround sound system is excellent especially with the “action films. Spotify has taken on a whole new dimension and once more enjoying my music collection with a renewed interest . It is for me a perfect replacement for my old hi-fi as it gives the music the old “depth” without the cost & space needed for hi-fi.Overall I can highly recommend this sound bar and state it complements my TV perfectly.

Decent sound though a severely lacks any immersive sound.
I bought this to go with my Samsung NU8070 TV, and while my TV's audio is pretty good for a 4K TV with 2.1 channel audio and an inbuilt woofer, I was hoping this HW-N400 soundbar would add some extra depth to the audio and help make viewing a bit more immersive. Setting up the soundbar via the optical cable was an absolute breeze, my Samsung TV both automatically detected the soundbar and switched the sound output to optical, my TV's remote control seamlessly controlled the soundbar's volume without issues and the soundbar even turned itself on and off in sync with my TV. Functionally, using it in conjunction with a 2018 Samsung TV it's great, the problem is it just doesn't sound that good, at least not £195 good. My main reasons for buying the HW-N400 was that it's reasonably compact and it's designed for smaller living areas, and was hoping for something that would give that extra depth of sound and not be so intrusive that it annoyed my next door neighbour and other members of my household. And while the sound quality of the soundbar is decent enough it just isn't that much more better that the TV itself, at least at lower volume. At higher volume it does sound powerful with a clean sound but it has a severe lack of any stereo separation, even in surround mode you are are fully aware of a very narrow field of audio coming directly from the soundbar, the audio doesn't seem to naturally bounce around the room surrounding you in immersive sound. It feels more like having a small, high quality boom-box in front of your TV and instead of immersing you into what your watching, I actually found it more distracting as I was more focused on the narrow claustrophobic field of audio coming from the soundbar. Just to be rule out it wasn't just my imagination, that it was poor output on my TV, or that I was being overly critical, I disconnected the soundbar and hooked up a pair of small Edifier R1010BT bluetooth speakers I had in another room and I was amazed at the difference in sound quality and immediately had that immersive surround sound I was originally looking for. So I've now returned the Samsung HW-N400 and bought a set of larger Edifier R1280DB powered bookshelf speakers. Edit 22/02/19: I've now replaced this Samsung soundbar with a set of Edifier R1280DB powered bookshelf speakers (currently £119 on Amazon) and the sound difference is amazing. Not only is the sound quality better there is an enormous difference in both depth of sound and stereo separation giving that immersive feeling I was looking for.
