Fastastic Pan - Perfect for Pancakes
Wow. This is a fantastic pan. I was worried it would be too flimsy - it's not. It's actually very sturdy. I was worried that everything would stick - I used the linseed drying oil (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008KPB12I/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1) process to season the pan - google it, it works perfectly. This is the perfect pan for pancakes and it just doesn't stick at all! Amazing. None of that horrible peel-off teflon to worry about.Take your time with the seasoning - it's very important for cast iron pans. But if you follow the guidelines on how to do this then you will have a really brilliant pan. Much recommended.

Excellent
Lovely weighty pan. Sturdy handle, which doesn't get hot quickly. After pouring boiling water on it to get rid of the beswax coating, I seasoned it with rapeseed oil, which was a bit of a process. I think I put on too thick a layer, so it bubbled a bit and some bits flaked off. I scrubbed it down with water and a scourer to get rid of loose bits and did another layer of oil. It still looks a bit uneven, but we just did pancakes in it, and no sticking at all with just a little butter. Pancakes come out so much better than my non stick frying pan. Very happy.

Impressed - repeat purchase
I've had this pan for five years; I've just logged in to get another one so I can have two going at the same time.Yes, seasoning is inconvenient, and not being able to wash with soap can seem like a pain, but I've never really needed to scrape it; just coarse salt has always been enough. And it doesn't take long to clean and coat after use.It makes consistently amazing pancakes once you establish the temperature setting that works. It takes little storage space; once the second one arrives, I'll store inside each other taking practically the same amount of space as one pan.

Best pans
This is my 2nd De Buyer Mineral B pan, first one being the omelette pan. I use this crepe pan for crepes and pancakes but also as an over tray for frozen pizzas, pre-made quiches and flatbreads. I preheat on the hob first and then it goes in the oven. This helps with crisping the base of those food types. I’ve even reheated a grilled half chicken on a few occasions, it works great. There is an enamel on all mineral B handles which can be used in high ovens temperatures for short periods but to be honest, I wouldn’t mind if and when all the enamel melts off, it’ll be a more versatile use pan. I’m pretty sure I’ll be passing these pans on to the next generation. If you know about these pans you know.

Beautiful kit that works perfectly
It arrived last night and I just had to try it immediately. Seasoned it once or twice with groundnut oil, wiped it and then cooked a couple of crepes made with Asda batter mix. They cooked perfectly - the pan was non-stick, and I could toss the pancakes easily. My wife struggled a little as the pan is relatively heavy, so difficult unless you have strong wrists and arms!I'm looking forwards to eating a lot more of them - and may buy another so we don't have to eat in relays!

Good, but long term use has shown flaw...
I bought this pan in 2012, for use on a halogen hob. Over the past year or so the base of the pan has started warping slightly and no longer sits flat on the hob, so heat distribution and sticking has become a problem. It's not a huge amount, but it's enough to have a noticeable wobble on the hob. I guess it would be ok if one day I switch to a different cooking medium, like gas (or camping!), so it will probably have to get stored in a cupboard now until then. (I thought there was something like a 5 or 10 year warrantee when it arrived, but not sure as I can't find the original De Buyer cardboard label.). PS It didn't season quite as well as my bare cast iron, black frying pan I also bought from Amazon.
