Good Quality and it Works Fine with a MacBook Pro
As a music producer, my last external drive was much smaller and it began to fill up quickly. I bought this Seagate because of the known quality, and the size. I understand that with a Windows computer, it’s plug and play. If you use a MacBook Pro, it is a simple task to prepare it. I’ll copy instructions for Mac preparation. It was ready to go in about a minute. It’s not something to worry about. Here are the instructions:First an easy installation, you’ll use Disk Utility on the Mac to erase and reformat the drive; it’s straightforward and only needs to be done once before you start using it.1. Decide on a formatFor a drive used only with your MacBook Pro for plugins/projects:APFS (best for SSDs, modern macOS, fast and robust). If you also want to plug the same drive into Windows regularly:ExFAT (works read/write on both Mac and Windows, fine for large audio files).2. Erase and format the driveConnect the new external drive to your Mac.Open Disk Utility (Applications → Utilities → Disk Utility). In the menu bar, choose View → Show All Devices so you see the whole physical disk, not just volumes. In the left sidebar, select the top-level entry for that external drive (it will usually show the manufacturer’s name and “Media”).Click the Erase button at the top.In the dialog:Name: Something like “Audio Plugins” or “Samples”.Format: Choose APFS (or ExFAT if you need Mac/Windows).Scheme: Choose GUID Partition Map if offered.Click Erase and wait for it to complete, then click Done. After this, the drive will mount on the desktop in the new format and you can start moving plugin content or sample libraries to it.It took time to move data off the old drive and load onto the new drive. That’s natural. With this new Seagate drive, I store all my music plug-ins and virtual instrument files along with a large collection of audio and midi files. When producing music, there’s no delay and everything works fine. With that said, I have the new M4 chip and 48GB of Ram. With that, the computer works fine, but the Seagate also keeps up just fine. This Seagate external drive was a good purchase. It is reliable, portable and built well with a good appearance.

Worth the purchase
Great storage for musicians and recording projectsAs a musician, I bought this to store and back up my recordings and music projects, and it has been great for that. It’s easy to use, has plenty of storage space, and makes it convenient to keep recordings and other large music files in one place.I also like having a separate drive for my recordings instead of relying entirely on my computer’s internal storage. Seagate is a brand I’ve trusted for storage, which gives me added confidence when using it for important files.Overall, this has been a great, simple storage solution for my music and recording needs. If you’re a musician or anyone who works with large files, I would definitely recommend it.

Hard drive 4TB
The Seagate Portable 4TB External Hard Drive is a great option if you need a lot of extra storage without spending a fortune. It’s compact, easy to set up, and connects through USB 3.0, making it convenient for backing up photos, videos, documents, and other large files. Real-world testing of similar Seagate 4TB portable HDDs has shown roughly 100+ MB/s read/write performance, which is plenty for everyday backups and file transfers. What I like most is how simple it is to use—plug it in, and you can start transferring files. The 4TB capacity gives you plenty of room to consolidate files without constantly worrying about running out of space. The biggest downside is that it’s an HDD rather than an SSD, so it won’t be as fast or as resistant to drops as a portable SSD. I’d also recommend keeping important files backed up in more than one location rather than relying on a single external drive.Overall: 5/5 ⭐ — excellent storage capacity, easy to use, portable, and a practical choice for everyday backups and extra storage.

Tons of Storage For A Reasonable Price
I had originally bought this external hard drive for extended storage for my PS4, thinking it would also be compatible for my PS5 down the road. Long story short, it only stores games when you transfer them on the PS5 (which takes an ridiculously long time to do, so long that it's just better to delete and reinstall games), unlike on the PS4 where you can directly install and run games from them (I have since learned about the technical differences between an external HDD and an SSD upgrade specifically for the PS5). Nowadays, I use it as a file archive for my laptop, of which this external hard drive by Seagate has been a stable and reliable tool for.I gave a similar discretion on another review for thumb drives from Micro Center, but you don't get the full, usable 2TB of storage, although it's very close at around ~1.87TB. Since I simply needed this for extra storage for games and now general files, this has more than enough space for me, although I'd recommend saving up for more depending on your specific use case.Overall, while I'm disappointed about the situation with my PS5 (that's arguably not Seagate's fault, just simply a technical reality), this portable 2TB External HDD Hard Drive by Seagate is definitely worth the money for the immense utility it provides.

If buying a resale unit, know this: FORMAT first
Two years ago, I paid $65 or $70 when I purchased five of these Seagate Portable 2TB hard drives for PC backups. I was somewhat shocked to find the price has more than doubled to $150. I was happy to find Amazon offered a "Like New" Resale unit for $90 which I ordered saving $60. The unit I received was totally blank. My units from 2 years ago would open immediately in Windows "This PC" Explorer window. My Resale unit was shown but could not be opened as Windows said Access denied. I feared I would have to report a problem to Amazon and possibly return the unit as defective. I consulted my IT Tech Support (ChatGPT) and after quite extensive diagnosis determined via Disk Management that the disk required initialization. Once done and after a restart, the drive opened and I was able to run an image backup. So 4 stars for the Resale unit for not providing instructions to "Get Started" by running Disk Management to create partition and format. If you buy new, then its 5 stars for a very good external hard drive that has been flawless for me in 2 years of use.

Very useful
I’m very happy with this external hard drive. The 4TB of storage gives me plenty of space for photos, videos, and important files without havinn to worry about running out of room. It was easy to set up and works great with my computerr. I also like that it’s compact and easy to take with me. So far, it’s been reliable and exactly what I neded. Definitely recommend it!

100x Better Than WD Drives
This drive is the very definition of reliability. The transfer speeds are pretty good, I've never once had any of these drives overheat, installation is very straight forward and the cooling is really good. The stability is also wonderful as well. The only bone I have to pick with the drive is the pricing. It's a great external hard drive and all, however the price for the drive is a little bit expensive.

Saved my files, easily and quickly.
What a great value! This was perfect for me. My old Scandisc just died on me, taking all my backups with it. I was looking for something less expensive but just as easy to use, when I found this. I use it on my MacBook Air, and I just had to click once to reformat it for Mac, and immediately it was ready to go. I have now used it three times to do a total backup of my laptop, and it works perfectly each time. It doesn't build up heat while it's working, and it works very quickly. Of course, the very first time, it took a while because it backed up all the files, but after that, just a couple of minutes for each backup. I have to use a separate piece of hardware to plug it into my computer, but I had that already, so it was not a big deal. It's a small hard drive, and it mounts easily, so I am one happy user!

Great buy! super fast file transfers
Very happy with this purchased. The product itself was packaged very well and was protected very well.Ordered on the 15th July and was told it will arrive on the 29th but arrived 8 days earlier. The transfer speed is amazing. Now my phone and tablet has all it's memory back and I don't have to waste time looking for files to delete to create more space on them.

Hafif diye plastik
Aynı modelin backup plus slim olanı vardı. Kasasının üstü metal altı plastikti. Bunun ise yekpare plastik. Kaliteli hissettirmiyor ama elinizde dolaşan bir ürün de değil zaten. Bellikte Seagate kalitesini tartışmaya bile gerek yok. 2 TB alın kafanız rahat etsin.

Great to keep memories
We bought the 1TB External Hard Drive mainly to store images and videos especially now that we just had our first baby. Those memories are everything to us, and I didn’t want to rely only on my computer or risk losing them on a phone. So far, it’s been exactly what we needed. It’s small, lightweight, and very simple to use. I’m not a tech expert at all — just plug it in and it works. We use it strictly for photos and videos, and 1TB is more than enough space for our entire family’s memories. It’s easy to toss in a drawer or bag without taking up space.Pros:• Compact and lightweight• Simple plug-and-play setup• Plenty of storage for family photos and videos• Works with multiple devices (PC, Mac, consoles)• Great value for the priceCons:• The only real downside is the cable. It uses a specific wire for this unit. If you lose it, you’ll have to do some research to find the exact replacement. It’s not as universal as I would have liked.Overall, it gives us peace of mind knowing our baby’s photos and videos are backed up safely. For a family looking for a simple, reliable storage solution, this is a great option.

Good value
Seems like an excellent product. No issues starting up and transfers really fast. I got a protective rubber wrap around for it as it seems quite light and probably doesn't' have a lot of protective shielding.

Great
