The Flash: The Complete Fourth Season (BD) [Blu-ray]

+++Warning, this contains spoilers from the prior season, but no major spoilers from season 4+++Season four of The Flash aired during the 2017-218 TV season. The show picks up six months down the line from the end of season three in which Barry exiled himself in the speed force to maintain balance after his defeat of Savatar. Iris is leading team Flash from Star Labs, with mixed results, and Cisco eventually finds a way to get Barry out of the Speed Force without destabilizing it. Of course, once Barry is back, not all is right with the world. This season finally moves away from the speedster "big bad" instead bringing in the character Devoe, who was mentioned by Savatar during season three. The show does still have a bit of the case/villain of the week procedural aspect to it, but it has become, like the other Arrowverse shows, a show with a serial story arc that spans throughout the course of the season. The big Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Earth-X, occurs eight episodes into the season and includes episodes from Supergirl, Flash, Arrow, and Legends. The season ends on a huge cliffhanger reveal that will have a big impact on season 5.For those who get the blu-ray set, the A/V quality is the same as it has been for the prior season releases and for the other WB/DC shows. The 23 episodes (plus the three other crossover episodes from the other shows) are spread across four discs, and there is no "play all" feature, so you cannot pick back up from where you stop. For extras, you get the episodes of Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of the crossover so you can watch it all at one time. Then there is a featurette on the crossover and the 2017 best of DC TV at Comic-Con that are common to all of the Arrowverse DVD and Blu-Ray releases from that season, a gag reel, deleted scenes, and a handful of other featurettes specific to the show.Overall, the season is strong. The guest and recurring actors this season include Katee Sackhoff, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Jessica Camacho, Kim Engelbrecht, Neil Sandilands, Bill Goldberg, and Danny Trejo. And, of course, actors from the other Arrowverse shows make appearances throughout the season. I do think it was nice to mix the main bad guy up a bit this year and not do another evil speedster storyline while still giving the team a challenge. So, if you have liked the show up to this point, it is definitely still worth watching.

Must be very good. My son has watched them several times and keeps trying to tell me about them. He is particular in what he watches. So, they did a great job.

Better then I expected from all the reviews. It was refreshing to not have the villain be another Speedster. There was some weird things they did with the characters. The way they style their hair and stuff they seem to want to break free of male and female stereotypes

This show is so true to the comics i read as a kid it just makes me smile every time i think about it

The Flash is the best CW show, constantly, Legends if funnier more often, but I think Flash is overall the best show.

La sensazione più forte che ho avuto man mano che andavo avanti nella visione di questa quarta stagione è stata la sua bellezza! Credo che la serie abbia raggiunto il suo apice proprio con questa stagione (anche se ancora devo visualizzare quinta e sesta). Trama abbastanza avvincente, nemici (specie uno) all'altezza della situazione, trama portante mozzafiato e trame minori con più che sufficiente capacità di intrattenimento. Stavolta ho visto un Flash più maturo, adulto, capace di insegnare ad altri possibili eroi. La stagione crea un hype sempre più alto, facendo venire subito voglia di andarsi a vedere la quinta... Consigliatissimo. Ultimo ma non ultimo, una cosa che ho apprezzato da morire: siccome talvolta fanno dei crossover con le altre serie collegate (Supergirl, Arrow, Le Leggende), questa volta hanno inserito tutto l'arco narrativo di "Crisi su Terra X". Della quarta stagione di Flash faceva parte solo la terza puntata di quattro (le altre puntate dell'arco sono state equamente distribuite tra le serie che ho citato prima). Per la prima volta, invece, hanno estrapolato le puntate "mancanti", in realtà appartenenti alle altre serie collegate, e le hanno inserite come regolari puntate della stagione. Facendo una cosa veramente gradita e, a mio avviso, doverosa per chi segue magari solo la serie di Flash. Complimenti, cinque stelle meritatissime!

Nach 3 Staffeln und einer weiteren in Legends of tomorrow war es an der Zeit, dass es mal einen Gegenspieler gibt, der kein Speedster ist. Das man gegen den schnellsten Mann der Welt , den schlauesten Mann der Welt stellt, macht auch sofort Sinn. Ob man jedes Ereignis zu der Explosion den Quantenbeschleunigers zuordnen muss, weiß ich nicht, aber es stört auch nicht wirklich. Die Vorgehensweise von Defoe ist jedoch in gewisser Weise logisch. Zu Beginn ist auch nicht nicht ganz klar, wie gefährlich der Mann im Rollstuhl Team Flash werden kann, aber im Lauf der Staffel entwickelt er sich zu einem fast unbesiegbaren Gegenspieler.Im Laufe dieser Staffel bleibt leider nicht so viel Zeit für Charakterentwicklung. Barry bleibt wie er ist, Joe auch. Iris entwickelt sich etwas weiter und wird zum Kopf des Teams, aber bahnbrechend ist das auch nicht. Sisko bleibt recht blass und Wells hat viel mit sich selbst zu kämpfen, aber ist leider diese Staffel kein wirkliches Highlight. Abgesehen natürlich vom Counsil of Wells, welcher zwar etwas bertrieben, aber definitiv ein Highlight ist (unbedingt im Original schauen). Leider gibt es mittlerweile so viele Wells, dass einem das Schicksal des aktuellen Teammitgliedes rel. egal ist. Der nächste kommt mit Sicherheit. Caitlin startet Stark in die Staffel, zum Ende hin wird es aber auch wieder flacher. Sie ist allerdings mittlerweile eine tragende Säule der Serie und nicht mehr nur hübsches Beiwerk. Wally kommt leider viel zu wenig vor. Gerade in der vorletzten Staffel, wo Sisko und Caitlin Barrys Speed nutzen wollen, wäre das rufen von Wally wesentlich einfacher gewesen. Hier kommt die Logik mMn etwas zu kurz. Ein richtig starker Charakter ist jedoch der von Ralph. Er macht definitiv Spaß, bietet Tiefgang und passt perfekt zu seinen Fähigkeiten. Die Animationen haben hier leider nicht das ganz große Blockbuster Niveau, aber es ist ausreichend für eine TV-Serie.Charakterentwicklung ist also nicht der große Punkt der Staffel, sondern tatsächlich der Kampf gegen einen Gegner, den man so noch nicht kannte. Es wird wenig Zeit für "Villains of the Week" oder Nebenstories verwendet und man konzentriert sich auf den Gegenspieler, dessen Entwicklung sowie seine Pläne. Auch wenn ich das Zeil seines Planes nicht ganz verstehe und sogar widersprüchlich zu seinem Handeln sind, so ist der Aufhänger besser wie in den beiden vorherigen Staffeln. Positiv hervorheben muss man sicher, das man das Parallelwelten-Theme weitestgehend ausgeblendet hat und die Staffel wieder deutlich fröhlicher daherkommt. Das tut dem Ansatz gut. Die dunklen Themen sind bei The Arrow sicher besser aufgehoben.Ich hatte viel Spaß mit der 4. Staffel, hätte mir am Ende jedoch eine etwas "intelligentere" Auflösung der Maßnahme gegen Defoe gewünscht. so war es dann doch etwas einfach und schnell. Zudem fragt man sich, wieso nicht eine Lösung gefunden wurde, als Defoe noch keine Kräfte hatte. Das ist aber jetzt schon wieder Meckern auf hohem Niveau.
