I am so disappointed. Please read this review before you buy.
Why, why, why didn't I pay attention to the other reviews. I downloaded the XYZPrinting software that did a diagnosis and my computer, and it came back saying that my computer would run the scanner very well. I watched Youtube videos and read reviews, and after watching a couple of people have success, I thought I would go ahead and try. I should have known better with XYZ, especially since it is taking an insane effort just to get them to reply to my emails about a failed chip in a filament spool.I got the printer today and installed the software EXACTLY as stated. I followed the instructions to the T, and updated the software. I ran it, and this is what I found:* If there is ANY black color on the item you're seeing, the scanner will not see it, at all. It just shows it as an empty area. Here's a fun little thing for you to do right now....see how many things are around that don't have black on them!?!* The camera is insanely sensitive to losing its tracking and failing. I did not get a single successful scan. I tried, tried, and tried. I tried my head, and it wouldn't see my beard / hair. I tried putting a small toy elephant on a turntable, it would only create a blob. I tried a red ball with dimples in it, it wouldn't see the ball.* Multiple times as I tried to scan, when I changed mode it would give me the message of "Devince not found." I would restart the app, and it would work again.* I tried scanning a multi-color drone, and it would see everything but black and white.* I tried scanning a rubber ducky, and it wouldn't see it. A bright yellow duck against a dark gray background, and it couldn't see the duck. It was too close, then instantly too far, then too close, then too far, etc, etc....* The last time I tried to scan, it again reported the "Device not found" with a list of things to try. I followed all of the list, verified drivers, verified installed apps, and rebooted. I uninstalled EVERYTHING (drivers, SDK, controller, application), rebooted my computer, and installed EVERYTHING again. I started the app, and updated the app again, and then started it again. The app starts, and gives me the same message of "Device not found." I went through the entire process again, and it still shows "Device not detected."I have now requested a return with Amazon.I am very technologically inclined. I have installed and setup my smart home, router, security system, program Arduino, design 3D models, and print 3D models. I am absolutely not inexperienced when it comes to computers, tech, networking, and software. I really believed that I would be able to get this thing to work. I was sadly wrong. Please, listen to the reviews of others here. This thing may work, but the greater chance is that you will be disappointed. Even when the camera does work, the results are extremely disappointing. Based on my other experiences with XYZ, I am honestly not too terribly surprised. I was tempted for a split second to reach out to XYZ for tips, but then I remembered that I have been trying to talk to them for three weeks now about a bad chip in a spool of filament. I'm not going to risk trying to communicate with them for a month and have the return window on this thing close.

The photoscan output is significantly better, and Recap 360 runs in the browser
I do not believe their claims that the highest resolution it can scan at is 1.5 mm. I've uploaded some comparison pictures. The first image is a photo of the statue I scanned, which is ~8" tall. The second image is the .stl output of the scan using the XYZPrinting Handheld 3D Scanner. I held the scanner at a distance of roughly 4", and made several passes over the face. The third image is the .obj output of 35 photos stitched together in Recap 360. The photos were taken using a regular smartphone camera, without any flash or filters. The photoscan output is significantly better, and Recap 360 runs in the browser, meaning I don't need to have a machine equipped with a modern Intel processor, 4GB of RAM, and a powered USB 3.0 slot; any computer will do. I'm very disappointed with the quality of the scans taken by this device. Head scans turned out very low resolution as well. I believe I will return the device, because I simply do not believe that XYZ is being honest about the quality of this scanner.

PIECE OF JUNK! BAD COMPANY!
I just got it today, opened it up and was excited to start having fun. I'm running Windows 10, i5. So I went ahead and bought it. Opened it up, and it doesn't work. So I spend a few hours going through everything. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A 4 GENERATION i5 OR NEWER. WHICH THEY DON'T LIST IN ANY OF THE FEATURE GUIDELINES. THEY JUST SAY EASY USER FRIENDLY SOFTWARE. Not only is it a bad product, but it's obvious that the people that own the company are morally broken if they think lying to get sales is any way to do business. I have a ton of followers on social media and I'm going to make sure to WARN everyone to not support this product or company in any way. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHY THIS COMPANY HAS SO MANY TERRIBLE REVIEWS.

RUN, do not walk, away from this rip-off "3D Scanner"
Should have paid attention to all the other negative reviews here. But, I wasn't expecting top quality scans at this price, and I thought, maybe some of the other folks with bad experiences just didn't meet the computing specs or something. WRONG, this thing just doesn't work, period...not bad scans, but not working AT ALL. After multiple attempts across multiple computers, installing all the latest drivers, updating Windows, etc., etc., all with machines that well exceeded the minimum requirements, this scanner was never even recognized as existing by the XYZ scanning software. All of the drivers for the hardware checked out as functioning (looking at Windows device/hardware manager), but the XYZ software never recognized the scanner at all. I even tried some third party software that looks for the same Intel-based sensor, and it failed. So, if you want to spend hour after hour trying everything to just get this thing to work, please buy it right now. But, if you want a device that at least gives you a chance to get sub-par 3D scans, then stay far, far away from this item. Oh, by the way, probably because of how may returns Amazon is getting, to top this all off, I received a clearly used/open-box item. The protective film on the sensor was gone, it had clearly been handled before, and all the parts were just bouncing around inside the packaging...and the tape seal on the box opening had already been cut. So, if after all of this warning, you still decide to risk buying one, BEWARE, as you may get Amazon shipping you the same one that I am taking back now to UPS to return to them.

Funcionamiento erratico produce resultados deficientes
No es posible realizar un escaneo completo de una persona sin que el software falle y genere modelos deformes. No lo recomiendo.
