BUTTERICK PATTERNS B5006 Sewing and Knitting Tote and Accessories, One Size Only

This is the BEST tote bag pattern out there. Easy to update with some modern canvas fabrics. So many pockets, perfect for a sewing bag!

Nice pattern, and I liked all the needle carriers and different pockets for other supplies.

I purchased this pattern along with another bag pattern for my knitting as I like variety in my knitting totes. Again love the additional storage bags for my knitting and crafting tools.

The pattern had a tote which I can sew up as a diaper bag for my daughter-in-law and a accordion style holder I can sew up for my circular knitting needles. I already have an order for the knitting needle holder!

This makes a terrific knitting bag as well as an excellent diaper bag. I've made this three times and all three turned out very well. However, the instructions are very vague, so the first time was a lot of trial and error. It is also absolutely essential that every measurement be exact. For the bag to look finished and professional, all the pockets and the bottom bands must line up. A mistake of 1/4 inch early in the process can cause a complete rip out later. I wish the lining attached somewhere other than at the top of the bag, but you can tack it. If you are making a diaper bag, you might choose to use plastic canvas in place of the cardboard for the bottom. It's a good idea to create a velcro or zipped opening in the lining to remove the bottom when laundering the bag.

This is the WORST pattern I have ever worked! I wanted to make the circular knitting needle case for a gift. When I went to cut out the pattern pieces, I found that, instead of labeling each pattern piece, some of the pieces were grouped and it was suggested you might transfer the information to the individual pieces yourself. What?!! Then, there was no layout given for some of the pieces. In the instructions, they refer to "pocket" - yet there seem to be 3 different sized pocket pieces (12, 13 & 15) with no indication as to how they are to be used. Added to that confusion, the fabric calls for fusible fleece, contrast fabric, and remnant fabric - again with no explanation as to which is which!

What is this tote bag ? Is it just a bag or material for a bag or whatever u want to be.
