I bought this a few weeks ago. It's worked all the time and imports discs onto your computer with relative ease. When I got the new MacBook Pro I brought a USB converter so I could still use it. The DVD player on mac always pops up on your mac when you have a dvd inside the device. It is a little noisy, more so when importing a cd, but no more than the MacBook pros that had a DVD drive were. One little note: always eject the DVD whilst it is still attached to your computer and if it doesn't eject when you press the button on the device eject it on your computer (double click on the cd icon on your desktops and select eject or eject it on finder)

Does the job - new laptop doesn't have a drive so found useful for installing old software from DVD's. Write's well for backup and works fine with windows 10. Only reason 4 star and not 5 star is cable very short, which causes problems for me as usb on RHS of laptop and that is where I have very little space. Otherwise excellent product for under £15!

My internal DVD drive was becoming very annoying to use, could burn but not play. This little external is brilliant. Works straight from box and is Linux friendly. USB lead could be longer though, I had to get a USB extension lead to complete the install.

The drive was immediately recognized by my HP laptop running Windows 10, and I was able to play CDs and DVDs without having to install any extra software. I had already installed dBpoweramp CD Ripper for ripping to flac files, and this also works well. The drive runs very quietly, compared to the noisy internal drive.The only problem is that the fixed USB cable is uncomfortably short - as other users have reported - but I already have a 1M USB3.0 extension cable, so this is a very minor inconvenience for me - and I like that the short cable fits neatly into the base when the drive is not in use.

Excellent piece of tech. Since moving to a notebook rather than a laptop, I had lost my ability to upload CDs and wanted an external drive. After reading many reviews I opted for this one and haven't been disappointed. Simple plug & play and the cable tidy at the back helps to keep things neat when not in use. I had difficulty getting this to work but Roofull were extremely helpful and even sent a second item, which sorted out my problem. Can't fault their customer service.

I wish Amazon would put the country of manufacturing on these items, I’ve been disappointed time after time with products from there.This DVD Drive is another disappointment first impression is good, lightweight,fairly sturdy construction tidy.Then you try to get the drive door open..no chance..using all conventional methods failed, I used a sturdy pin the get it open.It’s a pain, why can’t these manufacturers employ some kind of quality control? Apple iPhones from China seem to be ok...Sure it works it reads ok, it plugged n played, just a shame it wouldn’t open up in a conventional way.If it had been a little more expensive I would of returned it (perhaps that’s what the sellers hope, too much hassle to return the junk) but I will continue using it pin n all.

Arrived 24hrs after I ordered. New laptop minus a CD drive - which is a nightmare and I wouldn't have bought it had I been more on the ball. This little gadget has solved that problem for me in spades. A plug in and go and so simple to use...works like a dream!! You need zero skill to use this so don't worry if you are not a tech person. Sound quality is 10/10!!
