I was not expecting much after reading most of the reviews, but had little choice since the original pan for my 54" Midwest crate -- although still quite usable -- was starting to develop a crack down the center. I was hoping I would at least get lucky that it did not get damaged in shipment, as others experienced.I purchased the 54" crate and pan from Midwest for my last Dane in 2009. She was a bit unruly as a pup, but the pan held up fine during those times. As with all of my dogs, once she was old enough to have free roam of the house, the crate is accessible but not used often (as all Dane owners know: they prefer couches. lol!). It was still in good shape when I got my little Dane pup this year; he's not at all unruly so I blame the cracked pan on myself: I would often step into the crate to clean up after him rather than remove the pan. Somehow, I didn't realize that the pan comes out easily through the door -- while I thought I would have to try to unhook the 'roof' of the crate to get the pan out. Once I realized how easy it was to remove, I decided to buy a new pan and do it right from then on! I thought the pan that came with the crate was a bit flimsy, but since it held up to years of use, I was hoping for at least the same quality, but had my doubts based on these reviews.The pan came in -- unscathed, fortunately!! -- and I was amazed at how much thicker and better quality it was compared to the original Midwest pan that I still had. I had to wonder what others had received. It is definitely thicker and heavier than the original pan that came with the crate; just in weight alone you can feel a difference. But I did decide to take the suggestions of the others, plus a little more: I put a small padding on the floor grate; taped both sides of the cracked pan with heavy duty duct tape, as well as 'metal' duct tape; placed the cracked one down and laid the new pan on top of the old pan. This prevents 'liquids' from getting on the floor underneath the crate and gives it a very solid feel.But even without all of my 'preventative maintenance' I think this new pan is an excellent value compared to others that I saw online and am very satisfied with the level of quality.

Bought this to replace the pan my gigantor crate came with. Although the dogs were not laying straight on the pan but rather on cushions and blankets, the original pan was so flimsy that just the weight of them on it pushing it into the wire frame underneath cracked it in several places. Hellalame!!I was really nervous this pan would arrive cracked to the heavens, because I was expecting the same grade of pan. But this one is MUCH thicker than the original, very sturdy-seeming. It arrived fine & fits perfectly, looks great.Time will tell as far as stress cracks go, but right now I'm definitely not sorry I got it, and I'd order it again. Glad I didn't order two on the assumption id be going through them quickly.

We bought our big ol' crate over a decade ago for our first mastiff and it has housed a succession of rescue dogs. The plastic pan it came with held up for years but it was time for a new one.I was worried about ordering the pan because:1. reviewers said it sometimes arrived damaged in transit2. it was flimsyHere's my experience:1. we received our pan by mail and it was damaged in one corner. The next day, we heard from the seller, who apologized and said a new one would be sent right away. It was, and it was perfect! And we were able to keep the other pan, too. No hassle.2. we do rescue and have had a variety of dogs temporarily housed in the crate. The only one who did damage to the pan was our diggin' bloodhound girl. But I read a super tip from one of the reviewers which we implemented: put a doubled-up blanket between the pan and the metal floor of the crate to help preserve the plastic pan.So we were happy with the way things turned out!

This crate pan was great quality, sturdy, not like the cheap pan that came with the crate! Unfortunately, this pan was a few inches too small length wise and width wise, so I wasn't able to use it... Also the box it came in was falling apart when it arrived! Over all... I would recommend buying this item!

Thankfully I read the description. Fits perfectly. And also read the reviews of how some other customers received cracked pans or they broke right after it was used. It was not cracked when it came in had like cardboard inserts on the sides so it doesn't get damaged during transport. I used the cardboard box as a pad underneath the pan so when my 9 month old pocket dane decides to have her zoomies it won't get broken quickly when it hits the bottom of the kennel by impact. I'm glad that it finally came and I don't have to see her in a used cracked pan when I purchased the used kennel.

Midwest Solution Series Plastic Pan (Replacement) for the 1154U Door Dog Cratethis pan is not molded in one piece. it is actually 3 pieces fused together. the two small pieces, about 3-4 inches wide, run half the length of the outer edge of the length of the pan and fuse together in the middle. one stomp from a heavy paw I believe it's going to crack. the weight and quality of the material used is very heavy next to the old one that I was replacing, that I would give 5 stars. It would be a fantastic product if it were one molded piece. I guess I have to find a way to repair the old pan.RESPONSE FROM MIDWEST: Thank you for contacting Midwest regarding your inquiry. The pans are actually mold injected. The 1154UPAN mold has an attachment which makes it look like a seam however it is not. The pans are very durable and hold up very well. The amount of replacement requests that we receive for the 1154UPAN are extremely minimal compared to the number of crates that we sell. Our product does have a one year warranty against manufacture defects, pan included. If the pan breaks within the year, we will send a replacement at no charge – we will request a copy of your original receipt.

We bought this to set the cat's litter box on - he sometimes over-sprays the box. This protects the carpet really well, and we put a sheet of corrugated plastic behind the box to protect the curtains. Problem solved.
