Overall, an unimpressive kit
The Alex Spa DIY Bubble Bars kit does not make bars of soap. Think of this kit more like bubble bath in bar form. Once the bubble bars are dry, you crumble them under running water to have a foaming bath. The bubble bars are easy to make. Just do not expect them to look like the pictures on the box. The only extra item needed is some type of vegetable oil. This comes with three colors ( pink, blue and yellow) and two fragrances ( green apple and coconut). The green apple scent was barely detectable, just a whiff of apple. The coconut fragrance smelled to me like a toasted coconut scent and it is a light fragrance. There are 4 nice plastic shaped cutters and my daughter kept them and uses them with playdoh. We let these dry for 2 days, and then crumbled them under running water in the bath. The bubble bar did release foaming bubbles, but the bubbles lasted less then two minutes. So, overall, I am unimpressed with this kit and would not recommend this as a gift item.

Not Bad
My kid enjoyed making them, but when the soap dried it was fragile. It barely made it to the sink from the counter. If you like quick, easy crafts this is one.

Super cute, lots of fun
There were lots of fun to make. This is a single batch kit. At the end, you will have maybe some fragrance (we did not, we doubled up) and some coloring. All of the other ingredients are pre-measured to use the entire package. My daughter (8) did not want to make the bubble bars shown on the package and we mostly didn't use the molds that came with the kit. She wanted to make Poke' Puffs and Puffins. (The treats that they bake in the Pokemon series.) They came out really cute and she was very happy with them. The consistency lends itself very well to hand molding. If you find it too crumbly, just add a little extra olive oil. (Or whatever oil you are using.) The ingredients in these are similar to bubble bar recipes you will find online, and while most of the ingredients are found in the kitchen, you probably don’t' have glycerin, and unless you make bath products you don't have sodium laureth sulfate. Unless you want to do large batches and often, the kit is an easy option and a good deal. As for how well they actually work once complete - that's not great. Hard to crumble and don't make a lot of bubbles - but this is more about the making than the using.

Changes Your Tub Water
Alex Spa DIY Bubble Bars were a great project for my kids. My kids were so excited to make these that I didn’t fully read the instructions before getting everything out. You need an oil of your own to add such as coconut or vegetable oil. Luckily I had vegetable oil on hand. It was really easy to combine all of the ingredients. They had everything divided into separate bags and bottles. They give you two scents; apple and coconut. The directions give you measurements for only adding one. So if you want to do different scents separate the soup dough and half the scent amount. We used the apple scent. I thought the scent was very faint and I didn’t want to add extra for fear of messing up the dough consistency. I was thinking the mixture would be similar to play doh or baking dough. It’s not. It came out more crumbly and brittlhe. After using them in the tub to make bubbles, I think it’s supposed to be crumbly so that it breaks down easier. So if when making yours and you think you did it wrong, you probably didn’t. The food coloring did stain our hands a little. Most of it washed off except a few spots around our finger nail beds that were there a few days. If this will bother you, wear gloves. The kids had a lot of fun making the shapes for their bubbles. We let them dry out over 24 hours. I’ve been using them as a bribe to get in the bath at night. So I only let them use 1 or 2 each night to extend their excitement. When they crumble in the bath water it does give a small amount of bubbles. If you use more of course you’ll get more bubbles. But I’m rationing on purpose. The water gets dyed the colors of your soap blend. The kids like mixing the colors (use a yellow one, now a purple one). So it is teaching them about mixing colors too. It hasn’t stained my tub. But if that’s a concern of yours, test it first. My kids really enjoyed this kit so I think we'll do another one.

Fun project for kids, but not quality ingredients.
My daughter and I did this project together and it was fun, but when we added the dye to the soap, it became very watery and sticky and wouldn’t mold into anything. Also, the dye colors were neon and all similar in color- not at all like the picture. I ended up having to throw them away because they never set up and were just a crumbly mess. The dye also took a few hand washes to get off. Disappointing.

Disappointing
This product didnt work. Between 3 kids, all different shapes and sizes with no added features or add ons. Just solid pieces. Left out for over 3 days to dry. Never worked. I bought to keep them busy but ended up keeping them busy 30 minutes and threw all my money away.
