Rope Protection Cover, PVC Wear Rope Guard for Outdoor Climbing Mountaineering Rock

Used for rappelling in some moab canyons. It clearly did its job as indicated by the wear on the guard itself. I am not sure how strong the material is as it shows a ton of wear after one use, albeit there were 20 descents with it. But it was on sandstone, which was already a little rounded and worn, so hard to tell. I do know that my rope didn't take the same abrasion that it would have, so that was nice. I just don't know how long this will last.

If you TR solo you probably need this. It protects a dynamic rope as it saws itself over an edge as you climb. It's made of heavy cordura fabric and easily fits 2 ropes. Strong velcro seems fine. The clip is janky, but replace that with accessory cord to prussik to your rope, then it's works very well, and is easy to place. I expect I'll buy another because what if there's another edge to run over. Hummm....

This product is not good. Very thin cover will only last one or two uses. It would be a risk to use. Your rope will still get cut under certain conditions. “Do not buy” if you intend to use for high rise window cleaning.

Does exactly what you need it to do, which is to protect your ropes from abrasion.The spring clip that holds in in position on the rope is a nice touch which works well and very convenient.Good product, worth having if rope protection is what you need
