The first one of these I received worked out of the box as a trial. Of course when I went to use it for a real task it failed. I returned and Amazon replaced with a functional unit. Supposed to find studs in wall coverings as thick as 1.5 inches. While I dont believe it would come close to that it does what I need working with 1/2 inch sheet rock. I particularly like that if you go slow enough it will indicate the edges and center of the studs.

Couldn't accurately tell me where the studs were located, kept hitting nothing but dry wall. Over-priced garbage.

Does not work. It will act like it shows a stud, but if I back out and repeat the same steps to verify the exact spot, it doesn’t read it at all. Very inconsistent. How can you possibly believe what it is saying? DO NOT BUY

Attempted multiple uses over multiple months... figured it was operator error or that the studs and drywall had bad contact most of the places I tried. Finally bought a real one at a local big box, and realized it wasn’t me or my house... it was the tool.

Really helpful, easy and even fun to use. Makes a daunting task more exciting.

Don't understand it. No pointing beam light which was what I really was looking for.

Used to find stud to hang tv
