This led to a much less close shave but also saved me from cutting myself. Apparently in the pre-internet era, I had not properly learned how to shave. Being frustrated with the lack of close shave, I decided to give safety razor (“wet shaving”) another try. I am extremely glad that I did. I felt it was necessary to invest in quality but not the most expensive items to start. I began with the Merkur 34C razor, Israeli Personna (Personna Red) blades, the Parker silvertip brush and the Proraso shaving soap. The next step was to provide for a travel kit. This was accomplished with a cheap boar brush (not evaluated here) and Taylor of Old Bond Street Traditional shaving soap along with the Merkur razor. I next upgraded my travel kit to Simpson’s Wee Scot brush and Tabac shaving stick. My home supplies were upgraded to add the Simpson’s Classic 2 and Chubby 1 brushes, Mitchells Wool Fat shaving soap, Tabac shaving soap (after purchasing the stick), and the Lucky Tiger aftershave. Merkur 34C razor – I find this to be an excellent razor. It fits my hand well, gives great control with the short handle and provides for a clean comfortable close shave that is not too aggressive. The only criticism that I have is the finish is not as nice as certain other brands. When my luggage was temporarily lost, I purchased the same razor at the Art of Shaving for more than twice as much money, I did not feel it necessary to experiment with something else when this razor worked so well. Israeli Personna (Red) blades – These blades were purchased in a 100 pack at a very reasonable price. I chose them based on the overall reviews and have not been disappointed. I change the blade after four shaves and always get a consistently good shave. Parker silvertip shaving brush – This is a nice brush and a good value at its price point. It is soft on my skin and lathers Proraso very well. It does not have the backbone of the Simpson’s brushes and as such is now rarely used. I consider this a good starter brush if one is to limit their investment and give wet shaving a chance. With hindsight, I would have saved my money and gone right to the Simpson’s brushes if I were to do it over again. However, there is little to criticize for this brush at this price point. Simpson’s Wee Scot shaving brush – This brush is really small. It looks like a toy, but don’t be mistaken. It is surprisingly effective with the right soap and is excellent for travel. Be aware that even though this is a best badger brush, it is the scritchiest of all my brushes. Other reviewers have been able to get three passes from loading this brush once. I cannot, and therefore now load for each pass. Simpson’s Classic 2 shaving brush – This is a superior brush. This best badger brush is not nearly as scritchy as the Wee Scot. It has tremendous backbone and is superb for face lathering. The best badger hair is packed very densely which initially made it tough for the lather to release but with time the lather releases better. Be advised though that unless you live in a very dry climate, this is not an everyday brush as it takes more than 24 hours to dry and therefore must be rotated. Additionally, it will eat tremendous quantities of soap. Simpson’s Chubby 1 shaving brush (super badger) – This is my best brush. It is similar to the Classic 2 but even more dense with the super badger hair. The handle is slightly wider and bigger all around compared with the Classic 2. Both are good, but you need to like a short handle and be prepared to occasionally get lather on your fingers. Although this is a super badger brush, the degree of softness compared with the best badger Classic 2 is minimal. Compared with the Wee Scot, it is night and day. As with the Classic 2 this brush eats lather due to its density and also takes more than 24 hours to dry. Mitchell’s Wool Fat shaving soap – This is probably my favorite soap. It is however more difficult to lather. I have found that soaking the puck in tepid water while I shower has vastly improved its latherabilty. Tips for better lathering include not using very hot water, squeezing most of the water out of the brush and then adding only a few drops at a time when needed. The result is the best face feel after the shave of any of the soaps. It provides good cushioning and glide. The scent is minimal and not a factor at all for me. Tabac shaving soap – I first bought the stick for travel. Unfortunately the Amazon listing showed this as including the case. I only received the refill. Because the Wee Scot brush is so small, I tried lathering directly on the top of the refill stick and was completely satisfied with the results. So satisfied that I then bought the full size puck and bowl. I have since cut the stick into pieces and place it in the travel bowl with a screw down lid that came with the TOBS traditional soap and that is now my travel soap. This soap lather extremely well and is not so sensitive to the water level or have to be rehydrated as does the MWF. The scent is much stronger when lathering but eventually fades. I find the scent to be fine, I don’t have to have it, but don’t object to it at all. My wife likes this scent the best of all of my soaps. It provides good cushioning and glide and is extremely easy to lather. It does not have quite as good a feel after the shave as the MWF, but that is more a statement of how good the MWF is. I do however rotate daily between this and the MWF. They are both that good. Proraso green shaving soap – I started with this soap and found it good, but nowhere near as good as the MWF or Tabac. It lathers well and is probably the least expensive of any of the soaps that I have used. It provides decent cushioning and glide, but my face feels dryer after shaving than with the MWF and the Tabac. Taylor of Old Bond Street (“TOBS”) Traditional shaving soap – I was very dissatisfied with this soap. It did not lather with the cheap boar brush, and then I found it did not lather well with any of my other brushes. It did not provide good cushioning or glide and I got the least close shaves with this soap than any other. Given that I can lather MWF, I tend to think it is more the soap than I am the problem. I popped the puck out of the plastic travel case and filled the case with the Tabac stick for my travel needs. The soap was used a bathroom hand soap, because the price was just too high to throw away largely unused. Lucky Tiger aftershave and face balm – I like this aftershave which is largely witch hazel based with a host of other natural ingredients. There is no alcohol in this product so it does not have the burning bracing effect that some like. It has an orangey citrus scent that goes away after about 30 seconds. This aftershave is very thin and absorbs well. It moisturizes (especially with the MWF) and is a product that feels very clean to me. Other comments: After reading comments from others, I have learned that pill bottles that can be obtained for free from most pharmacies make excellent travel cases for brushes. I drill several holes in the cap for ventilation. I have also used a pill bottle to store the Tabac refill pieces not put in the travel bowl

Great aftershave. First time I used it I had razor burn on my neck, which usually takes 3-4 days to heal with me. Popped it on after my bedtime shave (I shave at night) and it was gone in the morning. 2 things I've noticed people saying that I would like to clarify. 1: People are saying there is no astringent in this product. Alcohol is not the only astringent in the world. Witch hazel is an astringent, which does not burn. By definition, true witch hazel contains 14% alcohol. No added alcohol, but yes, there is witch hazel. Does not burn whatsoever. This is one of this products main ingredients. Without the witch hazel, it would not heal nearly as well. 2: Oily. People are stating that this product is not oily at all. I have found that it is very oily, initially. This isn't a bad thing because after it dries it is not oily whatsoever. The oiliness of this product helps it penetrate and soothe. I noticed that it was oily when I realized I had to wash my hands. It's almost balm-like in this fashion, yet still a liquid. It very easily rubs in and leaves no oily residue. Does not bead up when sweating either. And I would know if it would, I live in Alabama and we are currently experiencing very humid, 90+ degree evenings. Over-all, one of my favorite aftershaves I've ever used. The scent is light and goes away in minutes, literally. I like this because I can put on my scented alcohol based aftershaves after I let this dry, or some cologne. I love topping off this with a great premium scent. There is no AS I've found yet, balm, splash, what-have-you, that tops the healing qualities of this one. Forget thayers, forget Baxter, forget Castle Forbes, this stuff rocks. I just might order a surplus just so I don't have to buy anymore for the rest of my life.

A timeless classic that's been around for decades now and for good reasons. Hands down it is the best aftershave product that I have ever used so far. Very soothing on my skin and I do not feel any razor burn or irritation after using this product. Very light texture as it should be for a liquid face tonic/aftershave coupled with light orange scent that quickly disappears after use and not that overpowering. Value is also superb for the amount of product in the bottle for the price. A great product and I hope they stay in the business for many more decades to come.

So, to get it out of the way: the product works. It will soothe and soften the post-shave face nicely. Now to my meat and lack of potatoes. You know how everyone comments the smell is light and then nice and soapy? Disbelief. I may go so far as to say lies. The initial smell, which only lasts at most ten minutes, is a rather nice mandarin/tangerine-esque scent that I don't think another soul could smell ten feet away and downwind. The lingering scent is not soap, however; it is slime. A prepackaged sort of slime you'd buy in a store for your kid by the name of something like "Flarp" or "Blaaaaper!" It's incredibly even lighter a smell, but far from soap and it does not go away for an entire day. I'd become used to it after some time but after shaving just after 7 AM my spouse commented she could still smell it on my hand after I'd rubbed my chin and was going to stroke her face... At 9 PM. I think that as an actual care product it works phenomenally, quickly stopping blood flow from a mole I decided to murder in my haste one morning. The skin stays soft, if a little oiled, and there's no agitation or burn... For me, at least. That pre-mentioned spouse got a little squirt of it on her leg in a playful moment and she complained of a burn. Who knows what caused it.

To tell you the truth I was actually really disapointed when I opened the box and it was a plastic bottle. I am not sure why I was expecting a glass bottle but man would that have been classy. Pros: -Smells great, little orange and citrus splash after a shave really a great way to start the day -I have had an issue with some other aftershave lotions, splashes and tonics either drying my skin out or leaving a noticable film on my face, this does not do either. Cons: -It is a bit too mild for me, its not really a con but but i just wish it had more oomph, maybe a liitle tingle of a bit of a burn or a little stronger scent, its just a prefference thing but because it has a fruit/sweet scent to it it just doesnt really have that wake up kick in the pants to get you going. -It doesn't moisterize all that well, if i am on a fresh blade i find that my face feels pretty dry by about lunch where some other after shave products do a bit better of a job. Its a good product maybe just not for me, it doesn't really have that "thing" that makes something great for me, it leaves me looking at it saying "meh"

I appreciate the classic wet shaving accoutrements. I always sort of rotated between Pinaud Clubman and Fine aftershave products. Running low on the Fine this time around, I decided to try something I hadn’t tried before in my shaving routine. Enter Lucky Tiger. Lucky Tiger is economical (less expensive than many other brands), has the history, and the classic look in the brown bottle. Yes, the bottle is plastic, but most things are, these days. It’s what’s inside that counts, and what’s inside is a wet shaver’s dream. Here we have an aftershave that has no drying alcohol, no burn, and LOTS of soothing and healing properties. It has a light orange/grapefruit scent that lasts about a minute. Since it’s not a cologne, I don’t NEED the scent to last — just to be pleasant while I put it on. It has a lotion-ey feeling when rubbed into the skin, and I have to say, my face has never felt better post-shave, or looked better, for that matter. I have sensitive skin, and am prone to razor burn/bumps. None with a fresh blade and Lucky Tiger. This face tonic is the bomb-diggety for soothing sore skin. I always work in a little witch hazel before the after shave; I probably don’t really need to do that with this stuff. I fully recommend this product for anyone who’s into the old-school shaving products, and who likes to pamper their face a little (as well as their wallet!). 5 stars — good job, L.T.!

I have been reading the reviews and a lot of them are wrong or misinformation. This is not your typical after shave splash like old spice, skin bracer, or anything like that. This is primarily a moisturizer to calm your skin down after a bad shave be it irritation, razor bumps, or bad skin reaction. You can use it as a aftershave splash if you want but it's not it's main purpose. Smell: it's not unscented but has a very light scent due to I guess the ingredients. Usage description: it is not an oily substance what so ever. I read review stating that and it's a false statement. It also does not sting or would be considered an astringent like witch Hazel or alumn block or alcohol based splash. I only use it if I have a horrible shave and my face feels just really sore and irritated. It works amazingly well and I really just use it when I need it. My usage: just to give a better description how I use it. * I use a de, shavette, injector, gem razors etc. *shaving soap or cream no chemical trash like shaving foam. *alum block astringent *witch Hazel astringent *after shave splash moisturizer *aftershave splash *not used often but if needed lucky tiger splash to calm my face and it works fast. * PSA:Do Not Shave With Cartridge Razors Like Gillette/harrys razor or shick etc.. or use stuff from a can. *

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I have been buying this product for many years, and it is a white creamy liquid that works well. The product that I purchased from this seller is a clear liquid that runs through your fingers when you try to apply it. THIS IS A RIPOFF!

I was really looking forward to receiving the Tiger aftershave, but unfortunately, it arrived damaged. Although the package itself seemed secure, the item inside was broken, and the liquid had leaked. The aftershave smelled strange, almost as if it had been diluted with water, raising concerns about its authenticity or quality. Returning the product isn’t straightforward either, as the return postage costs nearly as much as the item itself, making it hardly worth the effort. Overall, this experience was deeply disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend this seller based on this purchase.

Great for after shaving my face. Love that there is a clean very subtle citrus scent. Love even more that the scent dors not last. Men should never smell of cologne, perfumes, fragrances, woodsy smells, etc. Men should smell like a man. Period. Takes the razor burn away. Works well. Great product. Non greasy or oily and doesn't burn. No alcohol is perfect.

As an aftershave this is a bit different. Most aftershaves are alcohol-based, and it's the alcohol that stings your face, tightens your skin and generally freshens you up. Lucky Tiger face tonic is different - it's alcohol-free and relies on other ingredients for its effect. As a result it's a lot milder and kinder to your skin. And it's a face tonic, not a perfume. If you use an aftershave just to smell nice, this isn't the one for you. It smells like slightly spicy oranges, but this doesn't last long so you can put your own scent on over the top if you like. I use it because my face feels refreshed and clean afterwards. I sometimes follow it up with moisturiser as my skin tends to be dry, but the Lucky Tiger does a good job on its own. All in all its a good aftershave and recommended as part of a shaving routine.

Questo famoso after shave è davvero un buon prodotto. La profumazione a base di agrumi dolci è fresca, gradevole e poco persistente. La consistenza è praticamente acquosa, non unge affatto e si assorbe molto velocemente. Ottimo effetto lenitivo sulla pelle, buon effetto rinfrescante ma meno idratante. Del resto funge anche da tonico per il viso. Buono il rapporto qualità/prezzo dato che il flacone è di generose dimensioni (240 ml). Da consigliare a tutti gli appassionati di wet shaving ma non solo, meno a chi è alla ricerca di un dopo barba con funzione soprattutto idratante (ma per questo ci sono le creme) oppure con una fragranza forte e persistente
