I purchased this Zenwifi a couple of weeks ago and have been testing it out before sharing with my take. I’ve tried various routers including extenders and still struggled with unstable connections. I constantly experience internet connection issues downstairs, 3-floor townhouse, as our modem was connected upstairs and there are lots of walls where the signal could be lost. First, I was skeptical that only two units could take care of my internet issues (a router and node) but was surprised when both LED lights shined white (strong good connection). I even connected my parents internet to the regular connection (you could set up a regular and a 5G connection separate) and even though they are downstairs, their signal is very strong. Even on a different floor, streaming Netflix and YouTube is quick with no disruptions and Facetime is smooth with no lag. I’m very happy with its performance and would recommend to anyone looking to improve their internet connection. Setting up was easy too – I’m not a very technical person. It only took me a few minutes to get the system rolling and the app that runs it is an interesting little tool. Relocating the node to a better spot and having it reconnect was quite easy as well. I was able to configure everything through my phone and can manage the connections on my phone from anywhere in the house. I especially like being able to see all connected devices on the network and the ability to control access to individual machines; I can see this as a very useful tool to limit screen time with my littles!!

Update as of December 2025 ASUS released a firmware update in November of 2025 that highly recommended performing a factory reset of all mesh routers in the system after completing the update. Since updating and performing the factory reset, all issues I previously experienced have been resolved. This mesh system is fast, stable, and I can absolutely recommend purchasing it now. I will update my review in the future if any issues arise. Do not buy this mesh wifi system. Intermittent connection issues that have no clear or consistent resolution. Sometimes rebooting the entire system fixes the issue, sometimes it doesn't. From my troubleshooting, the issue appears to be a problem with the mesh systems ability to resolve DNS requests. I have performed every troubleshooting step in the book, and the issue persists. Multiple factory resets, multiple firmware updates, daily/nightly reboots, multiple setting/configuration changes, and the problem continues. When it works, it is great. Unfortunately I have spent more time troubleshooting this $600+ system than I would like to admit. Stay away. I am shocked to see a product from Asus have these issues. I purchased this system months ago and was willing to give Asus a few months to release a firmware update that fixed it. 5 months later the issue persists and based on the other reviews I am not the only one.

This WiFi system is excellent. The app is user-friendly and functional. The setup instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. From unboxing to a fully functional system, it took about an hour. The two-unit mesh network covers my entire home and the surrounding yard effectively. The wireless backhaul is fast and stable. In just one month, I haven’t experienced any dropped connections or issues. My wireless (under ideal circumstances) and wired connection speeds are identical to those directly connected to the modem (550/40 Mbps down and up). The modem has become the bottleneck, and it’s time for an upgrade. Initially, I was considering a lower-tier WiFi6 mesh network, but the Black Friday offers made this WiFi7 package a more attractive choice.are identical to those hardwired directly to the modem (550/40 Mbps down and up). The modem is now the bottleneck and due for an upgrade. I was considering a lower tier WiFi6 mesh, but Black Friday offers made this WiFi7 package a better choice.
