There was an accident not far from me where the poor pup was thrown from the vehicle and killed, which led me on a search to find a safe way to travel with my bestie. I love taking her everywhere with me, and I did have a strap to connect her to the safety belt, but I just did not feel like her harness or safety restraint were substantial enough. After a great deal of research I settled on the Kurgo Tru-Fit Enhanced Strength Dog Harness. My first impressions when it was delivered was that it is a very substantial harness. All buckles and fittings are steal, and the chest plate on the front is shaped in a way that actually covers her without cutting in to her. I should mention that my pup is a 70lb standard poodle, so finding something that fits her can be challenging. Not a problem with the Kurgo as there are 5 different areas that can be adjusted so it allows for a custom fit. The steel latches are extremely easy to work with, and once set, will hold the sizing until you decide to change them. After fitting her I put her in the back seat and we were off. In its most restrictive setting, I found that this combination holds her securely and allows her to sit and lay down without giving her extra room to move around. That is exactly what I wanted so we went out for a drive, got some ice cream, and then stopped and I attached her leash to the new harness and we went for a walk. I like that this harness does not restrict or cut in to her leg movements as so often happens with this breed because of the deep chest. We are very happy with this product and highly recommend it. This pup is a part of our family and we want to make sure she is kept safe and secure, and this does the job! To whoever designed this, thank you!

My dogs and I love this seat belt harness from KURGO. Safe, comfortable, well made and easy to adjust to the exact fitting your dog needs.Anchors them safely in the back seat while driving. And it doubles as a walking harness when we are out hiking, with top and front leash rings. If I stop at a store it's easy to unclip the carabiner so the dogs can move around in the back seat, then re clip them when driving. However I would not have this be a harness that my dogs wore at home - a little too sturdy.What's not to like? Highly recommend.

The harness was surprisingly easy to put on, it takes about as long as a regular snap harness. You do have to be careful to make sure it’s pretty snug on your dog or else, because it doesn’t lock together, if your dog is really wiggly it comes undone. The carabiner makes it really easy to secure your dog in the car, but it can be difficult to get your dog unclipped (this might just be because my dog is so wiggly). My dog also tends to get himself all tangled in the seat belts as you can see in the picture. I don’t know if this makes it less effective, but he starts whining if he gets too tangled and it is annoying to try to untangle him to get him out of the car. These are annoying but this harness does keep him contained in the car and gives me peace of mind on our car trips. It is also a pretty good walking harness and seems very comfortable.Update 8/2023: I’ve been using this harness for the last 3 years and I love it! We use this harness for the majority of our outings and there is literally no wear and tear, it looks just like when I bought it. I’ve thrown it in the washer and dryer with no problems. When we go hiking the burrs and other “sticky” plants don’t catch on it. When I have him on a tie-out I use this harness so if he does lunge at something, it distributes the force well and doesn’t choke him and doesn’t break. As long as it’s snug it doesn’t slide around and I haven’t had any problems with the clasps coming loose. And because it has metal clasps instead of plastic buckles they don’t wear out, get loose over time, or break. My dog is very fluffy so I was always nervous about getting some fur caught while buckling but with the clasps I don’t have to worry about that. I’ve used this same harness for several dogs with very different chests, including ones with very narrow deep chests and it fits well. My dog seems comfortable in it even if he wears it all day, he gets so excited to put it on and will even sleep in. We don’t use it as much in the car, but we use it almost everyday whether around the house, going for walks, training, runs, hiking, etc.

I’m so impressed with this harness. The way I see it, when you’re shopping for a (LIFE SAVING DEVICE) car harness for your dog, you’re looking for three things: Safety, Convenience, and Cost.This harness is safe and affordable. Thus, it’s not the most convenient option in the world.Safety: The build quality is FANTASTIC. It’s engineered for performance, the clasps and stitching feel strong. With its appearance and construction in mind, I trust the honesty of the crash-testing. I believe Kurgo is one of few really good dog-gear brands.Convenience: Because this needs to be snug, it requires both un-clipping the rear clips and loosening the front clips in order to slip the harness over my dogs head. It’s a bit of a hassle, tbh. It hasn’t stopped me from using it, because the peace of mind knowing my dog is *actually* safe in the car is so much more important than a few seconds of my time.Maybe I’ll pay more in the future for a more ‘convenient’ option, but for now this harness is incredible for us.

It was a great product. Built well. Did take me a while to set up. Unfortunately someone took the carabiner out of the car when my dad carpooled and now we can never use the product again. I don't have enough money to repurchase the item. :(

The harness is made of high quality webbing and buckles. It is easy to adjust although putting it on the dog can at first be a bit of a struggle to make sure the buckles line up properly. However, they are made out of top quality metal (not plastic!) and hold the dog very securely in our car when combined with a sturdy leash attached to the center headrest posts in the back seat. This harness will certainly keep our dog safe in case of an accident and also restricts his movements inside the car while still being comforatble for him to wear. Well worth the cost.

Doesn’t work for barrel chests. It won’t stay in the middle and ends up diagonal or bunching up weird. I can’t see this being helpful if it can’t stay put on the dog

Second seatbelt harness for our second pup. We only trust the Kurgo harnesses. They are well made and sturdy and we love that they can plug into the existing seatbelt buckle.

Comfortable and easy to put on harnessfor my large dog. Very durable and relieved any concerns I had about not being long lasting or secure.

So heavy duty so it’s perfect for use inside the car.
