Me and my INNOVV C5 Helmet Camera
It was only after viewing a few YouTube clips of bike rides and motorcycle accidents that I gave any thought to buying a helmet camera, yet I’ve been riding bikes for many years, from 125s to 1800s. It just never occurred to me. However, I’ve now got one. As I buy most everything these days from Amazon, I went there and bought the INNOVV C5 Helmet Camera. Well, that’s what I thought I’d ordered, but in fact I’d clicked the wrong item and finished up with the INNOVV C5 Motorcycle Camera.I got in touch with Amazon who put me in direct contact with the Amazon Market Place company, MycrocamUK, who are the UK agents for INNOVV cameras. No problems. They immediately replaced it with the helmet camera. However, I then made another mistake by going to INNOVV.COM website for help with getting it set up etc., where I got myself quite confused and made a hash of it. I just couldn’t get it to work. Now here, I must tell you I’m 85 and so I can’t really blame anyone for my confusion. It’s an age thing!I got back to MicrocamUK, and spoke with Steve Welham, the owner of the company, who told me to go to his UK website, INNOVV.co.uk, where all would be clear. And if I still found it confusing, to get right back to him and he would sort it.Well, it was all clear, and if I had come here first I wouldn’t have stuck the helmet mount the wrong way up, lol.Let me conclude this runaway narrative by explaining that I did everything right from here on in, and guess what, it still didn’t connect to wifi.Back to Steve Welham. He got me to send back the camera and set it all up for me and tested connection on his own wifi. He even sent me 3 other mounts because I told him I wanted to use the camera on 3 helmets, which I used for 3 different bikes.Well, I can’t praise this company enough. Nothing was too much trouble. Now what do you think happened? The camera was just as stubborn as it ever was! Same result! Wouldn’t connect to wifi. This time I emailed Steve that I believed him that the camera is perfectly ok. I’m fairly sure now that the problem is my end. It must be the configuration of my phone. But I will look at it in a couple of days, or so, because I have a lot of other things to be getting on with.About a week later I got to it. Guess what?I fixed it!!

Top quality bike dash cam
Very impressed with this camera which I have fitted to an 850GS. Installation was really easy and the quality of the footage is great and certainly sufficient for incident recording purposes. I initially had 2 small problems. The first was the 128gb sd card which I had to remove and format to the specific fat format on my laptop before it would work. The second issue was the app wouldn't connect to the camera and kept displaying an error message. After a quick Google I put the phone in airplane mode before connecting it to the units Wi-Fi....bingo all then worked. The unit has a built in microphone but as this is under the seat just picks up road noise, it does however also have a port for an external Mic which I am yet to order and try. I did a lot of research on cameras for my bike before ordering this and this consistently came out top. It's not cheap but we'll worth the money.

A robust well made unit. Very good backup from INNOVV team
I had some issues getting the camera going - my fault. If you use a good quality high rate SD card in it and pick up a good switched power connection from the bike it works well. The INNOVV team were great giving advice with all this. The camera's easy to use - it goes on/off with the ignition for normal use; although I installed a switch so I could power it up direct from the battery without the ignition on. One niggle with the camera though: it takes a number of seconds to start recording at switch on. So you might want to wait 30 seconds before you start your journey if you want your camera to record everything. Overall, very pleased.

Shame about the cost cutting
It’s a decent unit, picture quality is good (maybe slightly below a GoPro but more than useable).Fitting and using it is straightforward with good, clear instructions. It’s very disappointing however that, especially considering the price, it doesn’t come with stainless steel bolts in the fitting kit which have now rusted up and ruined the look of the front of my bike. Given the price they really should be sending decent bolts out with it!

Well worth the money
The price reflects the quality, clear imagery and audio, rugged build quality and an easy to use app. Really can't fault it.

Wasted money
The C5 is inherently flawed as the accompanying App doesn’t allow you to review or download videos onto iPhones ! Only pictures which is utterly ridiculous as how do you take pictures whilst riding! If you want a camera system that records onto a SD card to be reviewed later by plugging into a laptop save your money and buy a cheaper system . Very unhelpful customer support from INNOVV
