40357 ProXS Universal Performance Muffler 2.25" Offset Inlet / 2.25" Center Outlet 4" x 9.5" Oval x 14" Long body 19" Overall Length Reversible Design T-304 Stainless Steel

I bought this muffler (Borla 40357) for my 2005 Toyota Tacoma Xrunner. It is 2.25' offset/center on the inlet/outlet. When I first got it out of the box, I was very surprised how heavy it was (probably 7-9 pounds). It's appears to be very well constructed and of very high quality. I ordered the 2.25' version after reading that Toyota uses metric size tubing and the 05-08 Tacomas are closer to the 2.25' diameter, while the 09+ models are closer to a 2.5' diameter. I had it installed at a local muffler shop and had it installed. He said an offset/offset inlet outlet would have fit better, but he made it work. Upon initial startup, (the rest of my exhaust is completely stock) I couldn't tell a lot of difference between the 22 inch long chambered stock muffler and this 14 inch long straight through muffler. I've put about 500 miles on it in the first 3 weeks of having it. There is some noticeable resonance in the cabin from 2300rpms to about 2700rpms when casually accelerating. When you're coasting or maintaining speed, it is nearly identical in volume to the stock muffler. On the highway, I notice a little bit of drone/resonance, but it's not bad. My truck isn't very quiet in the cab to begin with, and I've ordered some sound deadening mat to counter the road noise and small amount of resonance. In regards to sound , this muffler sounds great. It's very deep and rich, mellow under mild acceleration but really wakes up when you get on it. There is no raspy sound to it and no loud popping, just a very mellow gurgle when decelerating. In regards to performance, it feels like it has a little more low end torque, and when decelerating, I've noticed the back pressure is greatly reduced (probably half of what it was). Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone wanting something mild, but noticeable to replace their stock muffler. as of now there are no reviews on this so i thought id share. sounds great. also installed a vibrant resonator and im not sure i needed it. its not too loud and has a deep tone. its well built and has a great warrenty too.

Very good sound, low rumble at idle, throatie at higher rpms and minimum sound at cruising speed 65-70mph. Overall a very good product!!

I put this on my BMW 320i exhaust and I love it, It has a deep tone at idle , and hardly heard at cruising speeds. Gives the 3 Series a sporty sound without the expense of the OEM sport exhaust. I had the local muffler shop fabricate some additional pipe and weld in place at a fraction of the cost.

Installed on Jeep ZJ V8. Deep sound and straight through design all while maintaining a very tolerable sound level! Switched from a flowmaster super 44 and am very happy!! Somehow deeper while not bugging the neighbors like the flowmaster was.

Very nice tone with low drone. I am very pleased with the quality also.

Needed custom bending pipework and cutting of the inlet muffler pipes to install due to brake lines, local Midas installed no problem. Sound great for my car, very nice sound in first and second under heavy throttle, no cabin drone at speed on expressway.

Sounds awesome on my vw g60. Can not fairly judge performance increase as the old muffler was rotting out, but it has a little more torque in low revs and just the right amount of back pressure from 4k rpm on up with about 10 psi of boost. Worth the price!

I install two of these on my V8 Jeep w/o a cat and the sound is amazing. I’m very happy with this purchase and would totally recommend this product.
