Cold water will suffice in an emergency, however the re-hydration time is much longer. The oxygen absorber helps maintain product freshness and is non toxic. Disappointing
I had high expectations but it failed to deliver. I followed the instructions to the letter and kept it warm while rehydration in a heat pouch. The chicken was hydrated and tasted of unseasoned chicken. The peas and sweetcorn were like bullets and even after a half hour soak, did not rehydrate.This made for a disappointing dinner half way up a mountainside. Most was carried back out and binned. Pot noodles reconstitute better.I am still searching to find a decent lightweight dried food. So far I have had to rely on wet MRE which isn't the best weight wise but at least has taste and texture.

Bought for teen going camping. Teen is prepared to take it again, so must be ok

Preferred over some of there other meals

Good but do take some other non freeze dried foods
They taste fine, all of them but be aware that there is very little texture. Take some boil in the bag/precooked meals to compliment these.

These are tasty, filling and easy to re-hydrate. bought 8 for an upcoming trip. The big 1000K meals get split and turned into 2 normal meals.
