The Handmaiden (Theatrical Cut & Extended Cut) [Blu-ray]

This UK Special Edition is just fabulous for many reasons. For those who pay attention to these kind of details, the set cover is beautifully made. It contains 2 Blu-rays discs, the extended cut and the theatrical cut, each one in their own individual case. Unlike the Blu-ray and DVD made in the USA, the UK special edition has the color coded subtitles and the quality of the picture is definitely a lot superior. If you own a multi region Blu-ray player this is the best choice if you are interested in buying this movie. The film is gorgeous, a must see like any other of Chan-wook Park films.

This has to be one of the best movies I've seen. As some others have posted, this "Theatrical and Extended" cut is the one with the correct colored subtitles. I bought two different versions of this - one from the US store (not the theatrical/extended cut) and one from the UK store. The colored subtitles matter, trust me. Buy the theatrical/extended version and you won't be disappointed.

Having the extra length scenes feels like a luxury. Must have region/zone free player though outside of UK.

Is there any way i can watch this in the u.s? I know it says it wont play on region like u.s,but i bought it anyway in hope that it would play. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!

Will not play on North American blu-ray players

Good quality; two disks (with the Director Cut Version); English sub-title. The plots are twisted and turned, I was surprised.

Ich finde den Film großartig, will aber nicht Spoilern. Die Geschichte ist Klasse. Was bei dieser Edition zu beachten ist, zumindest ist es bei mir so. Ich weiß nicht ob alle Sonderinhalte auf einer Bluray sind und man 2 bekommt, da sie für verschiedene Regionen ausgelegt ist. Ich kann den Film anschauen. die andere Blu Ray hat jedoch eine andere Regionszone. Wenn auf beiden das selbe ist, ist es egal, nur ein bisschen verwirrend. Und Diese Variante hat keine Deutsche Synchronfassung. Englische und weitere Untertitel, von Sprachen die ich aber nicht beherrsche als Untertitel und als Sprache Koreanisch und Japanisch. Da ich durch das Schauen von vielen Animes gewohnt bin untertitel zu lesen und trotzdem den Fokus auf den Film zu haben, macht mir das nicht so viel aus.

What a helter-skelter ride this film gives you as the twists and turns take you deeper and darker. Masterfully crafted storytelling rewards some early patience from the viewer and once the fuckery begins the time passes quickly, punctuated by laughs and gasps. Always beautiful to watch and often jaw-dropping at what you are seeing, this is an easy recommendation. @micbinbag

A pesar de haber venido desde Reino Unido en un pequeño sobre de cartón, ha llegado en perfecto estado. Muy buena edición con la versión de la película extendida y otros extras. La única pena es que la versión extendida no haya sido lanzada en castellano y no quede más alternativa que verla con subtítulos en inglés. Como siempre, el DVD está genial, pero recomiendo adquirir la versión Blu Ray si está disponible en el momento de compra.
