Arrived as promised. This shouldn’t be called a sound bar, this is an avr that is the shape of a sound bar. First setup. Easy to install as long as you have two people.(this thing is heavy). Get the optional mounting hardware with this. If you’re planning to mount the sound bar on the wall you will definitely need these. This thing is basically plug and play, so once you place it in the spot you want then just turn it on and enjoy. POWERFUL.. This thing can get loud. Volume control goes to 100, I can listen to it above 15 at the most. I usually have it set to 11 or 12. SOUNDS. Fantastic, everything is clear and sound is heard from all over the room. I have this setup in a dedicated media room with a 120 inch ust projector. It’s a blast to watch a movie with this . EXPENSIVE. Yes it is, and worth every penny. You basically have a dedicated AVR with the hassle of running speaker wires and the hours of setup. For a decent AVR setup with speakers it’s will come in at the same price without the hassle. CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are on point, I have called for them to ask a question and they are very responsive and even sent me out a flash drive with updated software to load on it. NO WIFI. This is the only issue I have with this unit. You have to load a thumb drive with updates and then plug it in. Which generally is not that big of deal unless the soundbar is mounted on the wall. It sits pretty flush and will have to be removed to plug in the thump drive. Since it’s very heavy, 2 people should be used to do this. In short I have no problem recommending this product to my friends or anyone else who is interested in a top of the line sound system.

NAKAMICHI – DRAGON 11.4.6 - BEYOND AMAZING!! After searching far and wide for an immersive audio surround sound system in my living room. I settled on purchasing the ‘Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 – I am not at all disappointed! ORDERING – Ordering through Amazon was EASY! SHIPPING/DELIVERY - Approximately 4-5 Days. I used tracking for delivery date to personally inspect the box packaging while the UPS truck had arrived. No physical damage to the shipping box. Great Shipping! Zero Issues! UNPACKING – UPS kindly placed the 150 lb. box inside my garage door for safety, until I was ready for unpacking. I had planned out the living room areas for sub-woofer and surround speaker locations. I wore soft gloves, as I unpacked and carried every piece to its place, so as to not leave finger print smudges on every surface, apparently the sound bar is prone to finger prints smudges. I carefully unpacked the 35 lb. sound bar and each sub-woofer. Additionally, I purchased the ‘Dragon Speaker Stands’ for mounting Surround Speakers as I have no suitable ready to go location for each of the two Surround Speakers. PHYSICAL SET UP – Set up overall including the Dragon Speaker Stands, overall took 45-minutes. PROS: Everything was relatively rewarding as placement of every piece was finalized. ------ DRAGON SOUND BAR *Set-Up Tip – Wearing gloves, I placed two TV tray stands in from of TV credenza as they were close to the same height. I placed the sound bar on the two TV tray stands, under each end of the DRAGON Sound Bar. I could then easily reach underneath the DRAGON Sound Bar with easy access to plug-in the AC power adapter and all HDMI plug hookups. This is better than rotating the 35 lb. DRAGON Sound Bar for better visibility, just to plug in each plug. The sound bar Is relatively heavy to continuously rotate per HDMI Plug. After a sound check and everything worked, I very easily moved the DRAGON Sound Bar back onto the TV credenza to its location, below in front of the TV. All cables very easily slid through below the TV, to the rear of the credenza for cable management clean-up. NAKAMICHI DRAGON USER MANUAL – Read through ‘NAKAMICHI DRAGON USER MANUAL’ step-by-step to preset all my preferred video / audio and speaker settings. Time about 15 minutes. I will tweak these settings a bit more as I get more settled and adjusted to the dynamics of sound throughout my living room. FINAL IMPRESSIONS – I am totally Stunned and Overwhelmingly Satisfied with DOLBY DTS coming from NAKAMICH DRAGON 11.4.6!!! I have zero regrets with the overall setup which was gratifying in itself. The audio sounds are Explosive and Immersive and All-Around My Living Room! My Family & Friends are dropped jawed at what this NAKAMICHI DRAGON 11.4.6 Delivers from the subtle whispers sounds, clear dynamic voices up to Heart Pounding Explosions and all the effects traveling throughout my living room where there are no speakers such as the ceiling and areas between the surround speakers! DOLBY DTS Surround Sound is simply Awesome when played from content provided in that format. Everyday regular TV programming is still immersive in ‘all speaker stereo mode’. I enjoy the subtle audio sounds as to where normally you would not pick up on to hear those sounds. I Am Very Pleased & Extremely Happy with NAKAMICHI DRAGON 11.4.6!!! NAKAMICHI SUPPORT – I experienced an extremely rare malfunction with my AC Adapter. I was in contact with NAKAMICHI via email and telephone. Help was never a long wait! The AC Adapter was remedied with a new AC Adapter within 3 shipping days. Overall, I was very Satisfied with the ever cordial, NAKAMICHI DRAGON Concierge and Their Very Professional Special Ops Ninja Team to resolve my AC Adapter issue. Everything Works Perfectly! Set up very clean! Minimal Wiring! Sounds Beautifully Amazing! No More Going to The Theaters! LoL

The Nakamichi Dragon doesn't get featured in many soundbar showdowns because at its quality, performance and price it has no peers. It's more expensive, but it still offers great value. I acquired Nakamichi mounts for the soundbar and the surround speakers. The soundbar mount has versatile mount points, and once mounted there's still some lateral flexibility to center the soundbar. The mount is discrete and feels solid with the heavy soundbar in place. I mention all of this here because it's also the best wall mounting solution for a soundbar I've seen. Make sure that the HDMI cables you get (for any soundbar) support 48Gbps and have smaller terminators because they need to start bending close to the HDMI ports on the soundbar. The mounts for the surround speakers feel solid and are discrete, but the surround speakers are heavy enough that I recommend hitting a stud. I mounted them on the side walls. The mounts are very easy to use and provide routing for the power cable. The vertical speakers in the surround speakers are angled to reflect off of the ceiling and rotate so they can be aimed at the primary seating area, providing flexibility in where they can be mounted. The room I set this up in has an 8 foot ceiling, the speakers are mounted at seated ear height, and this is the only environment I can speak to. Connecting the surround speakers and subwoofers required pressing one button, and there have been zero connectivity issues. Audio sync has been flawless. (The TV must be plugged in the HDMI port one and whatever port the TV uses for its HDMI ARC/eARC port.) The system doesn't have an automatic calibration feature, but the on-screen menu is easy to use. Just pick the matching physical configuration of the speakers and enter the distance from each speaker to the primary seating area. Sitting off center still provides amazing sound effects' localisation. Some of the setups I've experienced can't maintain this, but the Dragon's speakers and processing shine here. I had to move the subwoofers a few extra inches away from the wall to eliminate some boominess. It eliminated the reflected sounds bad timing and sharpened the bass. There's enough power to drive all of the speakers and maintain clarity throughout the entire frequency range at all volumes, so you don't have to turn it up if you don't want to. But you'll want to. I adjusted the subwoofers' crossover frequency for my preference, but I liked the default levels and settings of all of the other speakers after calibrating for distance. I switch between the Music and Movie modes based on what the source material. I use an Oppo UDP 205 Blu-ray player, Apple TV 4k, PS5 and Nvidia Shield Pro (through the Oppo HDMI IN) as sources. DTS X Pro through the Dragon is amazing, and is currently much, much more expensive to get any other way. Dolby Atmos positioning is so smooth and clear that my dog spins while looking up and around in time with birds circling. Music in surround sound, including Dolby Atmos depends on the quality of the remixing. Sometimes it's more natural sounding or broadens the sound stage wonderfully. Sometimes the positioning of instruments and sounds feel like the artist's intention. Some mixes are distracting in ways that I don't prefer, but this should get better as the industry gains experience with it. When it's done right you feel right there. (The Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense, Taylor Swift - The Eras Tour.) Metallica's Black album is better in stereo in my opinion. Upmixing of movies and music is done really well by the Dragon. It can play and handle anything, and everyone you know will hit their limit before it even gets close to its own. My unit came with the latest firmware, so I never experienced the lower bass mentioned in some reviews. I love it. I love how easy it is was to setup and calibrate. I love how well it handles the variety of sources I throw at it. Most of all I love how it sounds. There's one thing that I wish it did better, which is transition from source to source with less delay before the audio starts. It's definitely not a deal breaker for me. I don't channel surf or constantly switch sources, but I notice the delay when I do. I tried to find comparable setups using separates or soundbars, and they simply don't exist. If this is reasonable for your budget then you can buy it knowing that you can't find anything that can compete with all that it can do so well for anything close to its price.

Recently purchased. Sound quality lives up to the hype. It's all in the ears of the beholder. Everything works as advertised and lives up to their claims. I've owned a $29k home theater system that consisted of Triad speakers/sub, and NAD receiver, so my expectations are quite high. In my opinion, I'm getting very decent ROI since my entire new home theater cost was 1/5th the price of my original. The new theater setup includes the Dragon, an Epson LS300 UST laser projector, 120" screen and an entertainment cabinet to place the Dragon on. I've played around with just about every configurable setting. I've noticed that some of the reviews talk about it sounding a bit boomy. Well, that's because you have to reduce the crossover down to 120hz. That is the lowest setting available, but that will eliminate any boomy sounds for those that don't want too much bass in the dialogue. The All Channel Stereo (ACS) is the setting that produces the best immersive sound for me. The other multiple surround modes are fine but you have to really configure them up to match the ACS mode. The bass is more massive than expected, even after reducing it level 1, but you can also cut them in half if you want through the OSD dashboard. I have both behind the couch, which gives the most shake. One complaint is the lack of input connections on the back. Only one usb, one optical, one aux, and 4 hdmi. It could have included an analog rca input jack but you can buy aux adapters to convert if you want to listen to a record player or vintage tape deck, which I did and it works great. I did play music from a CD in the bluray and it sounded great as well. Nakamichi customer service also made a great recommendation that you can use an XBOX One S for blurays and Netflix and other apps. This device supports Dolby Atmos as well. Never realized that our XBOX One S would be such great support for a home theater. My room size is 15 feet by 17 feet. I think the Dragon will work well in a much larger room as well. I typically can't push the volume past 9db on TV shows and movies, it's that loud. The whole system was packaged very well for delivery, but did take a while to arrive. The Dragon also has a video up-scaling to 4k, which you can turn on or off. My eyes could not tell the difference either way. This product is great for those who have disposable income and are looking for the best bang for the buck for sound bars. In my opinion, this is the most powerful soundbar and the surrounds and sub are wire free which is extremely convenient. The build and remote control quality are very good. I just hope the unit remains stable and reliable for years to come. Please note that if you have any auto-muting issues when pausing Netflix or YouTube, it's most likely that you are using an integrated Intel GPU with the Intel R Display audio hdmi driver from an older computer which is not fully compatible with the Dragon. Best to use either Firestick or other modern TV stick or the XBOX one or a computer with an NVIDIA sound card.

I'm not sure how anything else in this price range stands a chance. Purchased the version with dual 8" subs, and it is a superb level of ultra high quality overkill for my 24'x17' family room. Briefly tried the Sonos Arc Ultra with Sub4, and the performance was just pitiful compared to The Dragon. Very simple setup with plenty of adjustments if you care to fine tune. Customer Service is great. Also, order the Dragon Stands for the rear surrounds. They're expensive, but they're worth it. No other set of stands could possibly support these surrounds as well, they are incredibly well made and aesthetically pleasing. Last, the sound bar itself is large, so you want to ensure you have adequate space if your TV is on a stand. Overall, some of the best money I've ever spent in the consumer electronics category.
