It's worth the effort to me. I'd say you should have something like the row of light Franklin sensors type and get familiar with that first. Then use but this Bosch and the simpler one together to find studs in walls. This item found stud locations that Frank missed. I wouldn't want to do without that row of lights Frank has, letting you see the full width all at once. And Frank it way faster, better for a starting look. Then find the accurate center with Bosch. A pleasant surprise was that the lithium battery pack that came with my Bosch laser measure works also for this scanner. It lasts longer than the 2 AA batteries and it charges very fast!

Works way better than older models but not perfect ... however i have never found a stud finder to work flawlessly.
