Gun range comm solution
I am the Range Master for several 3-Gun competitions held in the US. In that role, I am in close proximity to gunfire, but I also have to use the 2-way radio and my phone to handle administrative issues during the competition. I was looking for a solution that would allow me to use the radio/phone, but keep my hearing protected. I have used IASUS products in the past and I have been happy with them, so I turned to them again for a solution to this problem. Here is what I came up with: I ordered a set of SureFire ear plugs (EP7 Sonic Defenders Ultra). I removed the filter from the left ear plug. I also removed the white ear piece from the 500K headset. This leaves the metal right-angle ear piece adapter. I then plugged the metal adapter into the hole in the SureFire ear plug where the filter was (perfect fit). I know have a 28db reduction ear plug with pass-through audio from my iPhone or my 2-way radio, depending on which comm device I plug the 500K into. The 500K answers calls, hangs up, and activates Siri on my iPhone 6s. It also works as a PTT for my Motorola 2-way radios.

Disappointed
I had a problem with the first headset I received. My callers would complain of an echo on my iPhone 4s. I switched phones to an iPhone 6, and noticed that music would start playing at random. The company honored the warranty and sent me a new headset free of charge (the echo was the main issue), and also reimbursed my return shipping. With the second headset, the echo was gone, but the random music continued very badly. This problem was made worse by an incompatibility between the iPhone case (Case Mate Naked Tough) sold by the Verizon store and the headset plug connector (regular size, not a slim size). As soon as I replaced (discarded with extreme prejudice) the old case and replaced it with a Pong slim case, the random music problem improved (but did not totally go away). The headset connector seems to be a very sensitive piece, and will not tolerate physical interference from a poorly designed case.Pros: The headset is very comfortable, and also good for covertly listening to music.Cons: I wish it also came with forward and back buttons for better music control. I wish it would not start playing music by itself, as well as activate Siri by itself. Also, a major problem is the sound volume is also too quiet. Even with my phone volume on max and the headset volume on max, it is difficult to hear music. In comparison, a cheap $10 similar product delivered so much volume that I had to turn the volume down on my phone.
