I did not see many reviews of this black licorice but I love the normal redvines so I was curious. I just opened it and it tastes AMAZING. It is softer and fresher than any other black licorice I have ever tried. It is a little on the sweeter side but the spices are incredibly balanced and really good. I was hoping to use the licorice as straws for a drink concoction like normal redvines but it seems like most of them are too soft for any straw shenanigans

Husband adores these treats and they came very fresh and limp as should be. They don’t last long at my home but container keeps them fresh or transfer to your own airtight container is better. Taste like red vine should. Not hard at all. Always digestible Great gift for a family. Or lover of red vines.

I thought I would only like Twizzlers licorice, but since I've discovered Red Vines, they are now my new favorite. They seem to have more flavor than Twizzlers and this round container kept them fresh (and slightly soft - which is the way I like my licorice). I've decided to always keep one of these containers available to guests, grandkids and ME (of course)!

I was used to Twizzlers brand black licorice ropes. The first time I tried this brand, RedVines black licorice, I did not enjoy it. It is very light, hollow, and has a sweeter after taste than what I was used to. I kept eating them (in shock repulsion) and surprisingly after several tries I grew to love them. Consider that these are made with corn syrup sweetened wheat flour and anise plus licorice flavoring extracts. The first bite is when you notice the texture most. Keep in mind that the licorice flavor tends to hit a little later. If you are used to the alternatives brands, this is where you will notice how very different they are. These are not near as chewy, are hollow and much lighter. They are also not as dense. After chewing for a moment, you will begin to taste the licorice and anise. It lacks the salty undertone that tampers the sweetness that you might notice in the other brand. It has a more sweet forward flavor. The anise is noticeable and that combined with the licorice leaves a very sweet and powerful aftertaste in the mouth. This may take some getting used to. Once I indulged in this candy several times I grew to like it and now enjoy it way more than Twizzlers brand. This brand will sometimes shred in the middle, but the candy is still very good if you enjoy black licorice and anise flavors. I can understand why someone would not like these but honestly after giving it some time I grew to love them and now they are one of my favorite snacks. I did notice that these were just slightly drier than the individual 4.5 ounce packages I buy in the store due to those being wrapped in smaller quantities and experiencing less exposure to air. Per pound, this product is only a few cents less expensive when including tax than in the local dollar store - 17 cents per pound to be exact. So they are a good bargain for now at this price but if you don't plan to consume them quickly then freshness might become an issue as they may continue to dry out. it might be a good idea to move small quantities to individual plastic bags to maintain freshness as these might dry out when they are exposed to more and more air as the container gradually becomes empty. Other than that, I do get why some people criticize this brand when they are used to a different brand of black licorice ropes. I hated these at first but I say try them a few times and see if they grow on you as they did me. I will definitely be buying these again.

So, I reached out to Amazon and explained my dislike of the condition of the two tubs of licorice, of which I was quickly amazed at the quick help and even a new order of two NEW tubs to replace the opened and dry earlier tubs. With that I had to recant my 1 start and change to a 5 star as the batch I received was fresh and super soft and it tasted great. Where would you or could you go and without having to return the old stuff of which I now shared with my co-workers LOL With a note on the lid help yourself... As I enjoy the soft stuff and fresh at home. Thank you Love it I have been buying licorice on Amazon for five years. This is the worst batch of licorice I have ever received. It is so hard and stale. It's not even funny. I thought oh well let me give a half a piece once I broke it in half not tear it in half broke in half gave it to the dog and he chewed on it for six solid minutes like if it was raw high bone

Very fresh soft to chew taste great easy to eat would be nice if delivery can follow instructions left at front door only to start melting 🫠 because it’s hot outside. They are very very fresh
