It's tricky. But Fanola gives you the tools. It's a shampoo; basically a stain. It's not a hair coloring. But.. if you have BRASS or ORANGE in your hair... Fanola No Yellow can remove it. Yes, it's temporary. But as you know when your hair is long and you are bleaching and preserving... there is no 'one final color' you can force it to be. Fanola ABSOLUTELY kills that brassy yellow. If you tried it for five minutes and were disappointed you don't understand how it works. It's a STAIN. And it's a SHAMPOO. It's not permanent. But... I have used it about 5x now. I can say my hair has NO brass bright orang left. It was black when I bleached it three times. Turned that godawful orange. You can have brass yellow hair if you put it on for 60 minutes and let it sit? your brass will be gone. The value.. the DARKNESS of how blond it will be will only change by bleach. But the orange will go. It will go to ash. How long does that last? How much do you shampoo?. Do you use hot water? Use cool. IT'S A STAIN. Hot water washes it out. So the hotter the water the faster the purple STAIN rinses out. It's not complicated. It masks the brass. This morning I just seriously towel dried my hair and applied it to the ends only. To ASH them. My bleached three times virgin roots are a pale blue. Roots? Virgin? Don't need more Fanlola sitting on them. They are already blue. Ends? Every three washes they go back to golden blonde. Fanola makes a product that works. But you can't expect it to work everywhere on different dyed parts or virgin parts the same. Take responsibility. Do tests. If virgin roots turn blue after the third time of soaking it in the shampoo fuzz for 60 minutes is that Fanola's fault? No. But this stuff works. Shampoo your hair first. Then apply in a liberal froth for 10 minutes. If nothing happens whatsoever wait 30. Nothing still? Try again for 60. There is no getting away that this will ash your hair. It's the only one violet concentrated enough to leave on that works. Use your own trial and error. But.. this was works and is worth a 100 bucks. Just be careful on virgin roots because they will go blue or purple after too long -- and be liberal on the ends that used to be black that hav e bleached blond orange and they will ash out for a few washes. Nothing else does this and keeps your hair long at the same time. Yes it's drying. It's like leaving shampoo on your head for any hour but it works. But it So...Thank you Fanola No Yellow Shampoo. Very workable product if you have the patience to experiment. To compare I have used COOL BLOND by Sally's and it does zero. The foam of that in the shower looks white. Fanola looks seriously purple. That's your difference. So take it seriously. And note where you apply. And if it doesn't do anything to your orange, do it again and leave it on longer. And remember VALUE is the darkness or lightness contained in any color. Fanola changes the BRASS IN YOUR HAIR..not the value. Not the light or dark. It will just ash-out the color - not make the color lighter or darker. That's important. It's not a bleach or a dye. It's just correcting the BRASS with purple. And making it ash.
