DEATH WISH 1-5 [Region B] [Blu-ray]

Complete death wish saga for reasonable price
I was looking for the complete collection in Blu-ray, but... I believe I'll have to wait a long time for it!Being the blu-ray not available I decided to go for the DVD complete collection.I must admit the price paid through Amazon was quite attractive. You cannot complain too much if you pay 24EUR for a 5-DVD set delivered at your doorstep.Package arrived in a couple of days, despite all the attempts of the Icelandic volcano to disrupt airfreight deliveries. Packaging was intact and sealed.A sticker informs that, yes it is a Dutch product, but language is English and the subtitles can be turned off.Actually the only subtitles available are in Dutch. No English subtitles. Only English language soundtrack. As I said it's a very basic edition, do not expect thrills and frills: there are no extras of any type. No leaflets inserted in the dvd cases. The (static) menu is the most basic ever seen in DVD history.Video quality is OK. Often it is even above average. One problem only.... the screen format is 16:9 only in Death Wish 1. For the remaining four titles is 4:3. That's the only flaw encounterd in this collection.Audio quality (only the original soundtrack is available) is OK. A few "click" can be heard here and there, but overall is more that acceptable. Do not expect DTS-HD, of course! I also experienced an out-of-sync audio in a couple of occasions.About the "artistic" qualities of these titles, I would not comment on that. Either you like it or you don't.... (I do).About the cut-or-uncut diatribe I can't say anything, as this is the only death wish in my possession and I could not make any comparison. I can only say that "cuts" are not visible. The movies do not show any sign of missing scenes. If scenes have been cut, they were not fundamental ones.In brief, good quality for the money paid. But it is a very, very basic edition. If you are looking for a luxury edition, extra-loaded with special features, Dolby-surround, digitally remastered, multi-language, this is not for you.

Wonderful Series
As a Film Producer I have always been rather fussy about film and acting in particular. Charles Bronson certainly forfills my every wish in this series of 'Death Wish' - The Series which consists of Parts 1-5,and comes in a nice prsentation box. Both film quality and audioo are excellent with no artifacts etc.As usual Amazon delivered it in their prompt way. In all my years with ordering from Amazon they have never once failed to deliver on time.I gave this series 5 stars as it deserves 5 stars. Not to be missed, and you can order it from Amazon. Censored yes but does it matter?
I think these films are great, Yes the rape scenes are still censored but I've seen both versions and feel the censorship does not take anything from the film. The scenes in these films still graphic and I cannot see any difference in the censorship of these DVD's and the previously released UK editions I own on video. The main point of the films is how Paul Kersey deals with the events in his life, If you just want to see the rape scenes I would suggest you look for a different type of film.

Get before its banned!
By today's standards, and even at the time, the violence towards women, so graphically depicted, although relevant to the story, is pretty awful to watch. I had only seen Death Wish 1 before. That, and the 5th are worth a watch. 2, 3 and 4 are not.

Vigilante returns to Dvd
Charles Bronson plays bleeding heart liberal Paul Kersey over the course of 5 films, blasting his way through the decadent wasters of America over a 20 year period. The 1st 2 films are excellent and highly recommended. These 2 mark the best period of the entire series, well put together and well filmed. In the 1st DW, Bronson's wife is murdered and his daughter raped and left for dead-look out for a young Jeff Goldblum in an early screen role. Bronson does a good job of playing a man who changes his nature after the ordeal and he takes to the scuzzy New York streets to exact a little justice of his own. Particularly good scenes to look out for are when Bronson is trying to construct new houses out in the countryside and is introduced to guns by his new found friend, Ames. Vincent Gardenia plays cop Frank Ochola- a role he reprises in DW2. The other memorable moment of DW1 occurs right at the end when Bronson escapes to Chicago to avoid a police sentence and points his finger in the shape of a gun at a crowd of drigs who have just harrassed a young woman. Dw2 is perhaps the most polished of the series, with Bronson this time taking out the punks who rape his maid and kill his daughter. Bronson's real-life missus turns up here-Jill Ireland to you. Of the remaining 3 films, perhaps DW4 is the best with Bronson going after the mob with help from a mysterious millionaire who later turns out to be a mobster himself. The series is 1 of my personal favourites ever, not least because of the questions it inevitably raises about morality, killing muggers, etc. Get it now! You won't regret it!

As with all Bronson films, brilliant
The Complete Death Wish Collection (Death Wish 1, Death Wish 2, Death Wish 3, Death Wish 4 and Death Wish 5) Full and Uncut Import [[ASIN:B000AV3QPUAn exiting and entertaining series full of action, sentiment and feeling. With the 'bad guys' getting the justice that the legal system could not pass on them, although I don't advise any one to turn into a vigilante in real life, keep it in the films.
