I only bought this when I was building a 9900 Ryzen system. The motherboard I got only had two SATA ports. I had four 16TB platter drives I wanted to have internally to the PC. Found this one here. I like that it's an ASmedia chipset not something that is known to have issues. I always had good luck Asmedia based controllers. The only features it doesn't support is any kind of RAID which I wasn't using any SATA raid setup. It does NOT have bootable support you will need something else if your going to boot from SATA drives would have to use the Onboard SATA ports to boot from if they work. Keep in mind some motherboards disable onboard SATA ports when the M.2 slot is used. Read the manual for your motherboard for that information. This device is only attended for only for adding more ports. Yes they are SATA III so your going to get max performance out your SATA drives. So far happy with this purchase!

Works great in MINISFORUM! No performance issues.

Quality product, No driver installation necessary, plug and play with a nvme slot. Each drive shows up as a seperate entity, which is much appreciated! As for speeds, no difference between using this and direct connection to a sata port on MB.

UnRaid did not recognize any drives even though it recognized the card.
