Wonderful!
This is a serious cookbook for kids who really want to learn to cook. And not just a recipe book. It’s an instruction manual that starts with lots of kitchen basics and continues with great recipes with clear instructions and kid reviews. Throughout the book are sidebars with all sorts of interesting tidbits, like two ways to cook bacon, an avocado primer, intro to herbs, how to shred lettuce, flipping cornbread out of a pan, using parchment paper, how to frost a cupcake, to mention just a few. It’s really informative, beautifully laid out and so colorful! It begs you to turn the page and discover the next thing. Anyone who reads and cooks through this book will be comfortable and capable to work in the kitchen and have fun in the process. Kudos to America’s Test Kitchen!

Mostly good info - for kids of all ages - with reservations as noted! 🤔
Basic recipes with good directions and photos. I'd have loved to have had this helpful info when I was young and trying to learn to cook by myself. It was always a joy to surprise my mom with food on the table when she got home from work, even when just a grilled cheese sandwich (made in an old pie pan under the broiler) and a can of soup I'd opened and heated on the stove! The possibilities available in this book are a great beginning to open the imaginations of curious kids to tastes, textures, and the many rewards and confidence boost of good cooking! My only negative comment is the use of food processors and similar newer tools when a large bowl, a spoon or spatula, and some elbow grease worked fine as 'food processors' for centuries...insert eye roll here! Also, describing to the kids how to to separate an egg USING YOUR BARE HANDS was a completely new and approaching barbaric idea I had never heard of or even thought of doing, ick! When there are always two halves of eggshells to use from one to the other, why would anyone pour the raw egg in their hand to let all but the yolk then dribble through their fingers?? Aside from the convenient shells already in your hands, there's also an easy kitchen tool called an egg separater, yes really, that could have been shown among the kitchen tools. Much easier, less gross, and all around cleaner. Otherwise, this book and the baking book for kids are mostly recommended, except they both provide these same glaringly bogus instructions for unsuspecting children. Hmmm, maybe that was the point?? 🤓

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY YOUNGER SON WHO IS EXACTLY WHO I THOUGHT OF WHEN I SAW IT!
THE COMPLETE COOKBOOK FOR YOUNG CHEFS: 100+ RECIPES THAT YOU'LL LOVE TO COOK AND EAT! I bought this TERRIFIC COOKBOOK for my younger son since I realize it's target group it's marketed for is a much younger audience. My memories of his buying that horrible box Macaroni & Cheese being his go to meal that he bought a fancier brand, but he has no experience with too many kitchen skills, and I had a look at it and it is very impressive with it being very informative not only with recipes, but a vast amount of other helpful items for the very beginner with it is perfect for him. I buy a ton of books myself, and that I just happened to discover this is pure serendipity. I bought it at least a couple of months ago so I just remember it having been for much younger kids, but I remember how much value it would offer someone who is newly on their own since he has a serious girlfriend that probably cooks since I think she is going to be a keeper so I still loved this enough that it was a purchase I couldn't resist with him in mind. I don't always check reviews when buying my own books, I am pretty sure that I did check the reviews for this with them being remarkably high, and I think it was on sale, but I still would have bought even if it wasn't. I really don't know if he likes it since I forgot about buying this since I am probably one of the most highest spending customer when it comes to buying books here since I love to read and I have a daily habit of buying books that I am dying to read from a couple of years ago. I always buy the Editor's picks on Amazon since I buy most of what they each decide is their choice every month, which I still buy my own choices that is either most of the book clubs choices, and tons that I either love the Author, or my own that I have so many that I just don't have the time to read most, but I think that I buy them mostly every day. I hope that beginner cooks that this is one that I hope if you are new with little to zero experience, I do hope you buy this even though it is marketed for younger people that this is one I would still buy since it has value in various kitchen tools and will be very helpful.

Perfect for kids who want to learn how to cook
The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs is perfect for kids who want to learn how to cook. The recipes are easy to follow, the pictures are helpful, and everything we’ve tried has tasted great. I love that the book teaches real cooking skills but still keeps things fun and simple. There’s a good mix of breakfasts, dinners, snacks, and desserts, so kids can try something new every time. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly cookbook that actually works, this one is a great choice!

Perfect buy for an 8 year old.
This was the best gift for my 8 year old granddaughter this past Christmas. She is "into" cooking. Perfect for her age. It explains measuring and implements all on her level. She has been fixing the main course for dinner one night every two weeks since then. Every one has been a success and she keeps the book handy. She has read cover to cover several times.

Good
We’ve used this cookbook a few times now and overall it has been a nice addition to the kitchen. The layout is very clear, the recipes are simple to follow, and the pictures are bright and engaging, which makes it especially appealing for young children. So far we’ve baked cookies and brownies from it, and both turned out really well. My daughter enjoyed being part of the process, and I think the way the instructions are written makes it easy for kids to join in without getting overwhelmed. It’s not the most comprehensive cookbook — there are more detailed ones out there — but for introducing children to baking and getting them excited about helping in the kitchen, it works really well. The quality of the book is good, the photos are high resolution, and the recipes feel accessible. If you’re looking for a first cookbook to get kids involved, this is a solid choice.

Happy young chef
My 10 year of daughter loves this book and uses it often, especially when her friends come over. The recipes are well-explained, easy to follow, and fun for kids. Some ingredients are more common in the U.S., but we’ve had no problem finding substitutes. Overall, a great cookbook that keeps her excited about cooking!
