if you have a fruit bowl on your counter you need to cover the fruit bowl (with your fruit and blue apple inside) with a dish towel in order to trap the gasses in. It will not work if it's not covered or contained in something.

What substances and chemicals are being used to absorb the ehtylene gas?

sodium permanganate in a volcanic ash called zeolite. It sounds like these oxidize the ethylene, breaking down the permanganate and turning the zeolite into manganese dioxide, a mineral compound that can be used as a fertilizer. So after these are spent, you can sprinkle the sachet contents on your plants.

Does all the fruits or vegetables need to be fully exposed in drawers?

I keep bags of green beans, etc. in plastic bags in the refrigerator bins with these Bluapple balls, and they too last much longer with the balls in the bins. So I'd say no, veggies and/or fruit don't need to be exposed.

Each packet is said to last for 3 months. So how do the 6 packets not used the first 3 months last for subsequent months?

The packets, when in use, last 3 months. The remaining packets should be kept in an airtight container, like the bag they came in. As long as they are kept in an airtight environment, their shelf life remains indefinite.

Works great until you forget to change it. If you keep up with changing the packets, you will notice a big difference in the lack of spoilage of your fruit and vegetables.

This is the third time we have renewed the bluspple, and we are so pleased! There are only two of us, and fresh vegetables often went bad before we could use them. Once we began using bluapple we threw away far fewer vegetables, and were amazed at how long our produce lasted.
