This fountain is great outdoors near a hose- it tends to get slimy inside and needs to be thoroughly cleaned (hosed out) once a week. That being said, mine is actually indoors, and I have to unplug it and carry the unit to the sink for cleaning- not too big a deal since the ease of adding water every day makes up for it. With SIX large dogs drinking from two Dog-its, adding water is a must!
