Had a shower valve leak and I broke through the wall behind it to fix it. Rather than fix the lath and plaster wall (house was built in 1918) and for future access to the shower valve (shower manifold technically) I opted for this access panel. Local hardware stores only had 12” x 12” and I wanted more space so opted for the 14” x 14” and it works great! Going to hang a wall portrait over it but it doesn’t look that bad as is. Would definitely purchase another.

This access panel is a good design with hinges and was easy to install. It was modified for easier access by cutting out a half moon handle. I used this access panel for a unique install of a media box for my gateway. My older home does not have the traditional size studs preventing the install of a structured media box and this panel worked perfectly for my project.

We had to cut a hole in the ceiling of our finished basement to access the shut-off valve for an outside faucet. I braced for an expensive drywall repair until someone sent me a link to this affordable access panel. It was fairly easy to install and is unobtrusive, especially in a basement ceiling. My one wish is that the door was easier to pop back into the frame once the frame is solidly installed in the drywall; this could be easily accomplished by adding a grooved channel to the cup-holes so the door's hinges are guided into position. Without that, cross your fingers and force the hinges to pop into place while hoping the plastic doesn't break.
