WOW!!! IT WORKED!!!
For the past 20 years when I've had our septic pumped there has always been some back-flow from the fields back into the tank. Because of this all the reports said, "leach fields appear to be failing". I knew this couldn't be true because we've never had a backup into the house and we have always had our tank pumped during the winter when we've had a lot of rain. Though I was sure it wasn't failing, I knew it was slow. This past June we had our system pumped again with the same results which left us in a bit of a panic because we wanted to list our home for sale, but with a failing leach system we wouldn't be able to get the full value for our home. Enter "Septic Flow Shock". My husband did some research and decided to give this product a try. We purchased enough to directly shock our 4 leach fields as well as adding some to our distribution box about 4 weeks ago. Today we had the septic service company come out and put our system through the required tests for certification. IT PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS!!!! What!!!??? Our leach fields were put through a stress test using 250 gallons of pressurized water injected into the fields from the distribution box with NO BACK FLOW, first time in 20 years!!!!! Is it worth giving Septic Flow Shock a try....100%!!! I swear by this product now and will into the future! Worth every penny and saved us thousands on a new field and having to replace all the landscaping as well.

Stared working after just one application.
Started working within a month! We had two experts out to see why our yard never dried out. Both said our septic system was working fine. Even with having the system pumped the yard would not dry up. One application of this and we already have noticed a major change for the better. We just bought a second bottle and hope our problems are behind us.

Updated review after 9 years. Fields still clear!!
Just thought I would provide another update and after 9 years my fields are still clear - I dump two gallons every six months into my last septic tank which gets pumped into the fields. (This is an updated review after 4 1/2 years - still using the product every 6 months and septic fields are still working great! As stated initially below, septic field failures are hard to diagnose. But once you get it cleared out, use this product to keep it clear.) It would be really hard to state that this item does or does not work. Septic field problems can be caused by so many different things as I have found out. When my fields failed, common sense told me that some liquid in a bottle was not going to fix my problem. I had my lines jetted first and then used a service that performs the "ground fracking" method to open clogged soil. Before they left they told me to use a product like this every 6 months to continually keep the soil conditioned. That was 2 1/2 years ago. My fields are still working and I cant tell for sure if this product works or doesn't. It was based on their recommendation. Since I haven't had any problems, I would say that it works. Most important thing I learned through this whole process - Do not run your water softener into your septic system!!!

Seems to work but too expensive.
It's hard to know for sure but I think this stuff works in very specific cases. I read the reviews and see people desperately hoping that it will clear clogged pipes and repair a failed leach line. It won't. You need a clear leach line to begin with or the product can not get in the line. Furthermore I do not believe that you can just dump it down a toilet. I have a 1200 gallon tank and to dilute a couple gallons in that and think it will do anything is just wishful thinking. I removed to outlet lid on my septic and put a 10 foot hose down the leach line and poured the stuff directly in. If you have a distribution box that will work too but I don't have one. We had a failed water softener that was dumping a lot of salt brine in the septic. Salt causes the soil to tighten up and not drain. This is really the only use for this stuff. Purging sodium. Ours was not draining. We pumped the tank and cleaned the leach line and put this stuff in and we are now getting drainage. It's been 6 months and I just did another treatment and everything looks good. I was on auto ship but Amazon would not deliver my next batch. I think it's because the price went up dramatically. This stuff should be cheap. It's just gypsum.

Simple
Simplicity often means the best choice... I have been using this for over thirty years. Usually, I purchase it from large chain stores, but now there are also specialized manufacturers producing it. I pour one gallon of the solution into the water tanks and toilets of both bathrooms to clean all the pipes, and then discharge it into the septic tank. It works very well.

3+ months... no results
Spent 20 years treating my tank monthly, unaware that I didn't have a conventional leach field like all of my neighbors (perforated pipes on a gravel bed). Instead, I have an "Infiltrator" system using large open bottomed half pipes that rest directly on dirt and develop biomat, a hard crust that builds on the ground from phosphates and salts over time. These types of systems are supposed to be treated yearly for biomat but I didn't know I had it. This product claims to break down biomat so I've purchased it twice now. Both times, per the manufacturer instructions, I have drained the tank, dug up the distribution box, and added this product directly to the Infiltrator lines. So far, no results. The field isn't growing any differently than the rest of the yard and the tank is still overflowing when full. Obviously the ground is still crusted and not allowing liquids to soak in. Most reviews said it worked after 1 or 2 treatments, a few people said 3. I'm hesitant to buy it again after seeing no results at all so far.

Buy with confidence as Septi-Flow stands behind their product.
I just have to say, you can buy this product with confidence that they will stand behind it. I bought a gallon after using just about everything else on the market. It didn't fix my drain field issue and I let the company know and they refunded my money super quick. I guess at this point I'm looking at a professional but you can trust Septi-Flow to stand behind their product and in this day and age that is priceless.
