No more raccoons
Using this in our pool to keep the raccoons away. Nasty critters had been using our pool steps as a combination kitchen/restroom & were making a real mess. Tied the alligator head to the bar at the steps and so far so good. Would have given this 5 stars but the tiny little eyelet they put on the snout to tie a string or wire to was not embedded, it just came off in my hand & was too small to be of any use. Used a larger eyelet to tie this off, it is working well. It's also keeping the squirrels away, they sit & stare at it & keep a safe distance. Recommended, just need to affix a better eyelet than the useless one supplied.

Not a Good Decoy for Cranes, but Great Pond Decoration!
We ordered this gator head a few weeks ago to prevent cranes from eating our fish. Unfortunately, 1 week later, I spotted a large crane in our pond near the alligator head, proving that it was not a good decoy for cranes. By the time I had gone outside to scare the bird away, I noticed that 9 of our 10 fish had been eaten, while the alligator head calmly floated in the pond. We decided to save our last fish by bringing it to a nearby aquarium. Although all of our fish are now gone, the alligator head still floats in the pond as nice decoration. I doubt that we will get any more fish.

Does not exhibit a realistic flotation pattern.
The gator looks realistic, better in fact than others I have used. Seems to be effective as I have seen two herons fly over my pond and they kept going without stopping to check it out. However, either the design or the manufacturing technique did not take into consideration the center of gravity of the creature. He lists about 20 degrees to the port side! It is yet to be determined whether this flaw will hinder his effectiveness. Disappointing as I thought this guy was a bit pricier than other available options. I guess a really smart heron might eventually figure out something is really not right with this guy. But that said, I would no buy a boat from these people.

Heron deterrent confirmed
I bought this to deter a heron from eating all the gold fish out of my pond. So far, they've flown over, but I haven't seen one land or fish since Gator moved in. I'm a bit embarrassed to say I put it in one evening and then went down to the pond a couple days later, forgetting I had put it in and it startled me when I first saw it floating near the edge of the pond.

Eyes are not reflective at all and do not flicker in the light
Eyes are not reflective at all and do not flicker in the light. This is very disappointing because it is a replacement alligator head and our last one that we had the eyes were very realistic.

Seems To Be Working - Pests are Scarce Now
We live in an area where iguanas are an invasive species, damaging to landscaping, and defecating in swimming pools. We purchased 2 of these for 2 separate locations in the same town, miles apart and they seem to be working, we've had them about 2 months now, and we no longer spot the iguanas in those areas. Hoping that continues... The croc decoy looks very realistic. Our dog was quite intrigued/disturbed by it for the first day, but that wore off.

Gator died
We put the gator in our 20ft by 50ft, 8ft deep Connecticut private pond in the reeds at a shallow edge where it looked scary and cool for 3 weeks. Then one day gator was gone! No one stole or had access to the pond. It did not float to a different part of the pond. If it sank, it was not in the shallow area nearby. How could it sink if it was structurally sound? A friend theorized that a snapping turtle took a bite and gator went down. However, I have never seen such turtle in the pond and we have had two plastic duck decoys for years with no harm done. Puzzled.

Good gator for RC-ing.
I bought this head to try to RC it. I have purchased or been given several others but for various reasons (too lightweight, flimsy material). This one is molded from denser material and pretty well painted. I plan to partially hollow it out and attach amazing model boat that already has RC controls.
