This is a fun book that young students can learn about and explore the seven continents ...
Noah and his babysitter, Ruby, were getting ready to have “one last adventure before bedtime.” Hmmmm, just what kind of adventure were they going to have this time? Captain Noah, who had a cardboard spaceship, pointed to the map on his wall and exclaimed, “Let’s explore the entire planet!” Ruby agreed and decided that they’d have just enough time to “check out all the continents.” All aboard the spaceship and Ruby and Captain Noah were off to “check out those seven continents.” Ruby got out her “SpacePhone to look up facts about the continents.” First up was Asia, the largest continent. There were all kinds of interesting facts to learn about Asia, and they had “fun speeding along the Great Wall of China.” Ruby and Captain Noah could see things such as Mount Everest and the Taj Mahal as they zoomed along. Next up they flew off to Europe and Ruby explained that Asia and Europe “even share some countries.” Can you find some of them on a map? Ruby and Captain Noah could see things such as the Eiffel Tower, the Alps, the Parthenon, and even some fjords! The spaceship had to keep going because they also needed to check out Africa, Australia, Antarctica, North and South America. This is a fun book that young students can learn about and explore the seven continents. This beginning nonfiction chapter book is prefaced by a table of contents, a feature that will help children learn about the setup of a nonfiction text. Ruby and Captain Noah soar over the Earth, checking out each continent. They look down on a basic raised relief map that shows a few features of each continent (landmarks and landforms). There are several balloon-like sidebars that add additional information to the text. For example, we learn that “A continent is a very large area of land” along with the number of continents. In the back of the book is an index, a glossary, an activity (Try It: North American Map Hunt), and additional recommended book and website resources to explore.Social StudiesGrade Level: K - 2CLOVERLEAF BOOKSWHERE I LIVE:This Is My ContinentThis Is My CountryThis Is My NeighborhoodThis Is My StateThis Is My TownThis book courtesy of the publisher.
