Good wasabi powder
Good quality wasabi powder. It has a nice flavor and mixes easily with water to make a fresh wasabi paste. The large size is a good value and works well for sushi and other dishes.

A lot of unreasonable expectations from folks here.
You got two pounds of Wasabi Powder for 15 bucks. What do you expect? Freeze dried Wasabi flakes organically sourced and ethically produced while telling them bedtime stories? Laughable at best. Yes there is filler, because it thickens the wasabi better than normal pastes. Normal pastes ask for 2-1 (Powder to water) ratios in order to make the paste, but this is almost 1-1. That means you save money yes, but the flavor will be more dull than the stuff that costs four times the price. Also if you really want to be pretentious you should be spending 100 dollars a pound with your pinkies up while you grate the root directly with a fancy grater. Real fresh Wasabi only keeps it's heat for 15-20 minutes before breaking down, but horseradish can go all night baby. If you were expecting better for four times less I've got some news for you. It costs money to produce and sell products and the prices reflect that. I got this product to add another depth of flavor to some of my fried foods. Wasabi, Horse Radish, and Mustards get their heat from Allyl isothiocyanate, which unlike Capsaicin is not oil based. Heat from Capsaicin can last tens of minutes or for some people cause a more severe reaction, whereas Allyl isothiocyanate can be cooled almost immediately by liquids or any compound containing oils such as milk, water, and if your at a sushi bar the rice and oily fish. This means my oily Japanese fried chicken gets a light kick on the outside that is relieved by the oily fats from the chicken within. It creates a flavor combo that packs a punch but wont knock you off the stool.

this is good enough to pass as wasabi without anyone ever batting ...
Please note this is NOT real wasabi. Amazon really needs to update this product's page, because unless you real the description (or click the image with all the text and really zoom in to the first paragraphs), you won't know that this is *imitation* wasabi. This is just flavored horseradish that had wasabi flavor and color. Very similar, but different if you know what you're looking for. But for most people who can't taste the difference (because they don't try it that often), this is good enough to pass as wasabi without anyone ever batting an eye. It's good-tasting, cheap, and adds a nice bit of heat when adding to sushi or soup. Love it. Will buy again.

Better than advertised!
Just received the package. Quick shipping, too! This stuff is better than advertised, as it's about twice the pungency and flavor as what I'm used to buying. Very economical too, as I broke down the big 1-Kilo bag into 3 bags and a glass air-tight jar. I vacuum-sealed the bags, then put each bag in another vacuum bag and sealed it. I'm sure I'll have fresh Wasabi Powder for years to come! If you buy this product, you'll soon find out that a little goes a loooong way! I used 5 tablespoons of the powder to 3 tablespoons of water, and it came out perfect ! ! ! I had to do it at "arms-length", though! It does give off "fumes" that will take your breath away! Ha! Ha! I immediately put the paste into an airtight container, and stuck it in the 'fridge to get cold. That intensified the flavor and pungency of it, I'm sure. There was enough Wasabi paste to go around for about 120 pieces of Sushi I'd made for a friendly gathering of folks. Even some left over after the party. This stuff is the "REAL DEAL", and when I run out I'm sure I'll be buying S&B Wasabi Powder again.

Product delivered not as shown
The first time I ordered this product I received what is shown in the picture. It was AWESOME wasabi, we used it in my sushi restaurant and EVERYONE commented on the quality. We were very happy to order again . . . HOWEVER the second order was delivered in a clear plastic pouch in side a foil pouch, not the package shown. The product was hideously inferior with a strange smell and a chemical taste. After mixing with water a strange brown oil rises to the surface and for the first time EVER I had a wasabi sauce made with this product go bad. I reiterate I have NEVER had a daily made sauce go bad before. Do yourself a favor look for someone else selling the pictured product, this seller doesn't mind substituting.

Finally found one that works!!!!
Our family has tried 4 or 5 different brands of wasabi powder, and most of them were 'flat' tasting as well as quite grainy in texture when mixed with water. The S&B powder was recommended by a local sushi restaurant. Much different experience! The mix comes out smooth, with no graininess. It also has a substantially higher 'punch' than the others we tried. We've definitely found our go-to from now on!!!!

This is what the vast majority of us know as "wasabi." I LOVE it!
Wasabi is most commonly known as the spicy green paste served as a condiment to all forms of sushi. ... True wasabi is made from the rhizome (like a plant stem that grows underground where you would expect to see a root) of the Wasabia japonica plant. 99.99% of have never tasted true wasabi and never will. I certainly haven't and never expect to as it is exceedingly rare and costly. Most sushi bars don't even have it. HOWEVER, the product I received, when mixed with water as instructed, is PRECISELY what I have come to know and love as wasabi as I have been served alongside all the sushi and sashimi I have ever eaten. It is PUNGENT! I mixed a SMALL portion to test it and I could smell that strong, sinus WHAMMY that can nearly debilitate a person who consumes a bit too much at one time. I cannot tell you how pleased I am to have this product. I had grown accustomed to buying the expensive little green tubes of this to use in my own cooking. Making my own wasabi paste will ensure the highest degree of freshness. I make something I call Japanese Ceviche with just about any fish, but salmon is the best. I chunk about a pound or so of the fish up and add it to a mixture of one cup white wine, 1/2 cup soy sauce, one half cup white granulated sugar, one tablespoon (or more) wasabi and one tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. This marinates 8 hours or overnight. I like it with crackers or oven dried baguette slices. I do NOT try to make this without wasabi, as the wasabi is a key ingredient. I very highly recommend this product to anyone who loves wasabi with no reservations whatsoever.
