For those of us in recovery, it's helpful to be reminded to take it "one day at a time." I'm approaching in just a little over a week my 36th year in recovery from alcohol and drugs. Yet, 36 years is just a pile of days lived one day at a time. The coin is very well made with a beautiful, engraved picture of the earth--the sun behind and the moon in front--reflecting the passing of each day and the slogan, "one day at a time" engraved below. On the back is a raised engraving of Reinhold Niebuhr's serenity prayer, a prayer that most in recovery know and live. I also bought the coin because I have been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in my bone--caught early in the final stage; I find the reminder to live one day at a time more poignant than ever. I have never had more reason to go out and drink than now, but with no desire to drink whatsoever; just the desire to spend time with my wife and daughters, my extended family, my church family and my A. A. family. I am so very grateful for my higher power, Jesus, who has not only kept me sober these past 36 years, but has saved me and kept me by the power of His grace--the unmerited, undeserved, kind power to forgive, save and transform forever broken, sinful, and messed up lives. I keep the coin in my pocket to remind me to live one day at a time! I gave away my first two coins because I was escorted into the presence of those who needed the coin more than me. "One day at at time!" Thanks for making such a great product!
