Idk why there are so many negative reviews about this product.. the converter i recieved was really tough and doesnt seem of 'low quality' i used this with my Samsung smart TV 32 inch and with my Macbook Air early 2014, the video wuality was superb, it gave full 1080P resolution with 60 Hz frame rate, and this converter also outputs Audio, idk why some people were complaining about sound not working.. for me it was crystal clear and awesome, probably they use old Macs with has older Thunderbolt Mini display port which doesnt outputs audio.. or probably they're dumb and cannot set up a damn converter lol.. i really Loved it :) must buy :D

Product is of good quality. Go for PRAM reset with the device still attached and after that it would work just fine with some changes to be done in the system preference. The audio setting would work after PRAM reset. You can Google out the settings. These are all system related settings and the device has no role to play. Iam therefore very happy with the device. 4 stars just because the device is a bit different from the one shown in the pictures.

I did the mistake of purchasing such low quality and cheap items for my MacBook, which I wouldn't encourage other people to do. The build quality of this adapter is really bad and it will not function the way it is expected to, most of the times, rendering it useless over a very short period of time. A better alternative is to buy the original Apple adapters although they are much more costly.

built quality doesn't seem to be sturdy but its manageable and more than anything it works. A lot of these cables you will see in market will fail to work. This works perfectly on my Mid 2012 Macbook Pro.

This adapter works perfectly with my HDMI cable. It was a GREAT price (compared to $20 in a store just for the adapter). It arrived so fast (within a week) which was a nice surprise. Would definitely buy from here again and recommend to friends!

I saved myself 30 bucks buying it here rather than my local retailer. $35 for this at Best Buy? Seriously? It's absolutely crazy the kind of markup that retailers expect to get for these little doodads.The negative reviews here, claiming it doesn't support audio, are (obviously) those who don't know what they're doing -- people who expect "plug and play." I'm a Mac guy, which is about as plug and play as it gets, but even with a Mac it doesn't always work that way. I still had to open System Preferences/Sound/Output and select my TV. All of a 10-second process (Windoze users should expect something a bit more tedious). If it still doesn't work, and you've upgraded your Mac to Lion from a precious OSX, you may need to do an SMC and PRAM reset. This is a known issue that you can readily find on Apple's support forum ("If you left all the peripherals connected while performing the Lion upgrade that may have confused the SMC.")Really, folks. Please stop bashing a manufacturer for your own ignorance. Does the video from your computer to TV/monitor work? Then the problem with the audio is you, or perhaps with your computer which may not support mini display port audio (it's for good reason this manufacturer specifies "mini display port 1.1a -- the version means something). The problem is not with the adapter. HDMI carries the audio channels over the same physical path that the video signaling is carried (DDC and TMDS channels). Can an HDMI cable malfunction in such a way that the video works but not the audio? No, it cannot, and neither can this adapter.
