Great cutting mat!
I’ve had this mat nearly 5 years now and I love it. It has held up wonderfully with heavy use of a rotary cutter and I appreciate its size for not needing to shift my fabric as much. My rotary cutter has left some marks/cuts, but it has not cut through unlike some others I’ve used. Storage could be a challenge as you don’t want to roll it up and have to wait for it to flatten out again, but I lean it (flat) against the wall behind a door instead and it hardly takes up any space.

Great price
Fits great on my sewing table. Light weight and thin enough so no bulk but still good for quilt cutting.

It’s sooo nice to have a cutting mat this large!
I was worried about ordering this mat—some of the reviews mentioned they had difficulty cutting on it, but the price was so good I took the chance—and I’m glad I did! My fabrics cut beautifully (as long as the blades are sharp, of course); I only need to apply a light firm pressure; the fabric cuts cleanly and I’ve seen no scoring so far. The side with the numbers and grid is less “pebbled” than the back side, more of a matte finish, but I like that better for a clean cut. And it’s so great to be able to spread things out, and not have to reposition my old 2x3 mat over and over... This is a much thicker (about 2 mm or 3/32”) and nicer mat than my old Fiskars one, which was less resilient, harder to cut on, and prone to scarring. I’m sure this fits the matching craft table nicely, but my cutting table is an old flat door—which is actually about 3 inches narrower than the mat...but I have a cheap-and-easy fix for that: I got 4 of those 1/8 inch thick white foam core art boards at the dollar store, taped them together on the bottom and slid them under the mat, cutting off the excess. I slid the narrow excess strips of the art boards under the other boards at the edge of the table, to provide a little more support...and that’s enough so that I can still cut on the mat to the edge, as well as providing a nice bright white underlayer for the cutting mat. It also provides a nice resilience to the mat while I’m cutting. The first photo shows me lifting up the mat to show the art foam boards underneath. It didn’t take long to flatten out after unrolling; I just unfurled it and put a few chairs on top of it to hold it flat, and left it overnight (which was probably overkill). Neither I nor my daughter—who has a famously sensitive nose—detected any bothersome odors. If you need to keep it rolled up, try the clever yoga-strap hack used by another Amazon reviewer (check out the photos and you’ll find it). If you’re on the fence about buying this, I suggest you give it a whirl—you’re not going to find a good mat this size for less than 55 bucks...I know, I tried! ;-)

Exactly what I wanted, at a great price.
I purchased this to protect an antique oak drop leaf table that I use in my sewing room. I will not be cutting directly on it but wanted to protect the table from pins and scissors. After reading several reviews saying that it wouldn't flatten out, I was a little concerned about it. But after searching for mats in this size and finding the prices to be considerably higher, I decided to give it a try. It came rolled up, of course. I unrolled it and layed upside down out in the driveway with a small board stretched across each end and let the warmth of the sun relax it. It sat there about two hours. It's early October, the sun isn't that hot right now. When I returned it had completely relaxed and was flat as a pancake. Not a ripple or a wave in sight. It was 3/8" too wide for the table and needed the corners rounded to fit. Using a straight edge, some good clamps and a nice sharp utility knife I was able to trim it to fit and it looks great. Though I don't think I'd recommend it for use with a cutting wheel. It's slick. And it took me a bit to come up with a way to keep it from sliding around on the table without damaging the table itself. I remembered I had a box of these little adhesive craft dots. They squish down nice and flat, barely noticable under the mat. It's not going anywhere now. Don't be afraid to give it a try. It's a nice, big mat!

An inch is not an inch..not accurate!
So sad. The inch markings are not an inch. I bought one of these in this same brand about 25 years ago and it has been awesome and needs to be replaced. Too bad the quality has gone down so much. Returning. Update: I returned one and bought another, thinking maybe it was a bad batch. I measured it against my Stanley metal tape measure and over 30 inches, it's off by about 1/8 of an inch. I then checked my old one... it was off too and I had no idea! no wonder I'm not good at precision piecing! i'm keeping the second new one because it fits my space and I can still use it.

Good size
Large size perfect for my cutting table. Don't want to press down too hard as it will score mat.

Durable, thick and sturdy
I have had this mat for over a year now and it is holding up great. I am a sewer and wanted a mat that fit my large cutting table that was one piece. It was hard finding a mat this large for a reasonable price. It came in a roll, but flattened out in just one day, I never have a problem with it curling up. It is a nice thickness. It doesn’t move around much on my table, but I do have a clip on lamp that helps keep it from moving. I use rotary cutters at least once per week to cut fabric, and I’m pressing down hard on it. Occasionally some of the fuzzier fabric will stick to the mat where I cut it, but it vacuums out easily and the mat repairs itself. My table has rounded corners and the mat was square corners. I was able to use some sharp snips my husband had to round the corners off without effecting the ruler function. The grid lines are easy to read and have not worn off at all over time. I’m extremely happy with this mat.
